Usually, when they say that they will read poetry now, something penetrating into the rhyme is also expected. But many forget that rhyme is not a prerequisite. At least in a genre such as the verliber (this is a free verse), rhyme, on the contrary, is not welcome. The emphasis is on something else: on the essence, on the rhythm, which, yes, yes, just like that, is possible without similar endings of words. All this leads to the fact that the verliber is perhaps even more difficult to write than a literary work in rhyme. But the masters of free verses amaze with the possession of the art of words and, perhaps, do true magic, interlacing the lines so that they gloriously form wise and beautiful speeches.
Definition
Verliber is non-rhymed verses without a meter. It is also called free verse. The term is derived from the French vers libre. The verliber does not have constant signs of commensurability, although it is divided into poetic lines.
A rhymeless accented verse is one of the options, but there are verbals with much sharper rhythms.
History
In Russia, at first verbles were called verses by French symbolic poets, which were translated into Russian. However, this does not mean that such creativity has not been encountered before. Verliber often "sinned", for example, Fet.
Categories of Phenomenon
Verliber is metric and dysmetic. The latter also has its own classification: they distinguish between intonation-phrasal verse and drummer.
To be rhyme or not to be?
Despite the fact that it is very common to define a free verse as a work that does not have a rhyme (just such a definition is given in this article as well), there are exceptions to this rule. Such a mysterious thing is a veriber.
Poems, which are called free, actually have many definitions, one way or another limiting them. Researchers divide the lines into beats and measures, relating the verlibres to one or another category. And all due to the fact that they violate all the rules of versification.
Verliber is an example of rebellion in the literary field.
Poem personality
If a poet wants to excel, he definitely needs to resort to writing a verbal. The Estonian poet Arvo Mats said that a free verse allows each word to be meaningful.
Prose or poetry?
To be completely honest, almost any prose can be made a verbal, correctly positioning it line by line.
A. Bely about his novel "Masks" said that it was not printed as a free verse just for the purpose of saving paper. Surprisingly, the truth is, when you read its beginning, in the head the words themselves are laid out on shelves, it simply does not work to read without rhythm.
This suggests that poetry is not just a rhyme, there is some irrepressible, weightless particle in it that makes it such.
But back to the fact that the name has a veriber.
Examples
The treasury of the most wonderful verlibs was revealed to the world by ancient Greek poetry. Horace, Sappho presented free verses and meliks (verses of chant) even before the traditions of the formless versification developed.
From the end of the 18th century, the verliber began to be used in new European poetry, but it spread widely in the 20th century.
Russian poets, who are not indifferent to the three-part metric veriber, wrote poetry in this form. Among them are the aforementioned Fet and the mentioned White.
Lermontov also wrote verlibra.
A well-known example is "The Word of Igor's Campaign". The poem is considered a classic example of a free verse.
Turgenev's work
Free forms did not pass Turgenev’s work: he has a collection of poems in prose, which are so close to the verbal. Short works very accurately reflect the essence, and the lines are so penetrating that, after reading just a couple of them, you are already thinking about the meaning.
Modern verliber
Brodsky has examples of free verse. The poet began to create verliber from the genre; his first experience was connected with it. And despite the fact that growing up, Brodsky chose a more traditional form of versification, his free verses will forever remain in the memory of fans.
Joseph Alexandrovich himself always had an ambiguous attitude towards the verliber: because he appreciated the concept of freedom in principle.
Brodsky's good example of this style is the well-known work "Out of nowhere with love ..".
It is interesting that the way Joseph Alexandrovich read this poem aloud very accurately reflects the syntactic basis of any verliber - monotonous-lowercase.
Finally
As you can see, although many dictionaries very clearly define the verbiber, many writers continue to debate over the definition of this verse. A rebel work that goes beyond the limits and limitations - it is ideal for expressing chaotic thoughts that are not so easy to put into rhyme. And when you don’t want to add to the rhyme, all the more so.
The verliber is something that shows very well that poetry is a much more multifaceted thing than many think at first. And the poet is a state of mind, and not just the ability to pick up a rhyme for a word. Ultimately, the world has evolved so much that machines can do it for people. But is a computer made from this a poet? What. The rhetorical question, isn't it?
