Each of us had to feel awkward or embarrassed. In this case, the person blushes, then turns pale and tries to lower his gaze. After all, one wants to look like a self-confident person, but, alas, no one is immune from mistakes. And regardless of the desire or inappropriateness of the situation, we try to hide our eyes.
Awareness of their behavior
The persistent expression “lower your eyes” is used to describe embarrassment and the realization that you are in an awkward situation. In other words, you are confused. In addition, we note: a person can lower his eyes when meeting with the object of sympathy, which arises from the inability to control his behavior. When he looks down, he kind of apologizes for a real or possible mistake, thereby showing others that, despite an obvious mistake, he can be dealt with, since he is capable of correcting his own behavior.
It is worth remembering that young children can also lower their eyes, especially often when communicating with unfamiliar people. Moreover, the child is not able to analyze or realize the consequences of his behavior, he is only guided by emotions.
Assessment of others
What it means to look down can only be known to someone who has failed in the presence of at least a few people. The reason may be, on the one hand, interest in people, and on the other hand, it may be fear of society. It was also noted that one who is unable to “lower his eyes”, and this concerns not only embarrassment, but also a state of deep thoughtfulness, is deprived of an important human quality, such as sensitivity to other people's pain and the ability to take care of other people.
So, in conclusion, summing up the above, I would like to note that a person, embarrassed, lowers his eyes. Moreover, it is worth noting that the more people, the more embarrassed is manifested. Those who were fortunate enough to fail outside of public were much less embarrassed, and their desire to downcast their eyes did not attend.
