The distance to Moscow is 3000 kilometers (if measured in a straight line). But to get from Kemerovo to the capital of the state by road, you will have to overcome about 3,600 kilometers.

Geographically, the city is located in the Ob River basin, at absolute heights of 140-160 meters. From the east, Kemerovo is surrounded by large massifs of coniferous forest.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, the city has been developing as an industrial center for coal mining (development of the Kuznetsk basin). Today, several large enterprises of the chemical complex also operate here, which cannot positively affect the ecology of the city. True, in recent years the situation has improved somewhat. So, the volume of polluting emissions by the city enterprises in the period from 2008 to 2014 decreased by almost one and a half times.

Administratively, the city consists of five districts. Two of them (Rudnichny and Kirovsky) are located on the right bank of the Tomsk, and the other three (Central, Zavodskaya and Leninsky) are on the left. Both parts connect three bridges - one railway and two automobile.

Within Kemerovo, the small river Iskitim flows into Tom. The city center is located on the left bank, in the area of ​​Lenin Avenue, and the zone of industrial enterprises is mainly on the right bank.

In Kemerovo there are all types of public transport, except for the subway. The trolleybus has been operating since 1970 and has nine routes. The first tram was launched back in May 1940 (today there are five tram routes in the city).

The main attractions. What is interesting in Kemerovo?

Once in the city, the first thing worth visiting is the so-called Red Hill - the highest place in the city, from which magnificent views. It was here that back in the 18th century, Mikhail Volkov discovered coal deposits. An unusual and very moving monument to the Kuzbass Miners was erected on Krasnaya Gorka.

Both children and adults will be interested in a ride on the children's railway, as well as visit the unique Coal Museum on Rukavishnikova Street. For unhurried walks and photo shoots, the local Pritomskaya embankment, which stretches for one and a half kilometers, is excellent. It has many interesting sculptures and monuments. In general, Kemerovo sculptures should be said separately. They are scattered throughout the city, and among them are very original works: for example, the sculpture "Precious Grandmother", "Cradle", "Tired Cowboy". There is also a monument to the Tom River.

Of the religious buildings you can highlight the most beautiful Znamensky Cathedral, built in the 1990s. In 2008, in the eastern part of the city, the magnificent and huge Munir Mosque "grew" (the height of its minarets reaches 48 meters).
