Pandorum is an energetic space horror film from Antitel director Christian Alvert and Event Horizon producer Paul W. S. Anderson.
Synopsis
In 2008, the director of "Antitel" Christian Alvert, having entered into a creative alliance with the producer of "Event Horizon" Paul Andersen, introduced the world to a new fantastic thriller "Pandorum". The film is a lively space horror movie, a mosaic of classic films of science fiction and psychological horror. Christian Alvert, who appeared in Pandorum as a director and co-author of the script, has his own recognizable creative signature and does not change his favorite genre in any of his projects. Some film critics accuse the director of borrowing ideas from films that have become classics of the horror genre. However, the main idea and atmosphere of the picture “Pandorum” (the actors who participated in the production confirm this fact in an interview with the media) are quite unique, the tape is an extraordinary canvas, saturated with the author’s metaphorical nature of the director.
About the plot without spoiler
A giant spaceship called "Elysium" carries over fifty thousand immigrants from an overpopulated Earth through outer space to a planet on which there are conditions suitable for life support of human civilization. Two officers-astronauts wake up from suspended animation, discovering that something is clearly wrong with the starship entrusted to them. The spacecraft is empty and the equipment is behaving rather strangely. They suspect that their suspended animation lasted much longer than required, and something terrible happened. Then real madness begins to happen. Pandorum is a film - a space nightmare that causes bouts of claustrophobia and paranoia, so it’s highly recommended that you keep your finger on the pulse while watching.
Plot madness
Creating a picture, the authors were able to faithfully rhyme the feelings of the characters: the psychological decay of the personality and the physical primitive fear of attacking carnivorous creatures. The two main characters of the picture "Pandorum" (actors Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster) literally plunge into the abyss of madness. Sergeant Bower, making his way along the gloomy corridors of the starship to the main processor, barely copes with trembling limbs and cannibal mutants. Lieutenant Payton, remaining in the control room, struggling with panic attacks and the rolls of the nightmare’s nausea, makes no sense trying to remember what happened before entering suspended animation. This atmosphere reigns in the film "Pandorum". Actors performing the main roles did an excellent job with the task set by the director.
Actors and roles. Lt. Payton (Dennis Quaid)
Actors involved in the production of the film played an important role in the success of the film “Pandorum”.
American actor Dennis Quaid, having made his debut in the big movies in the 1980s, secured his stellar status after participating in several significant projects. Viewers of the Soviet era, he is known for the film "My Enemy." Among other well-known paintings with Quaid's participation, they stand out: “Going Away,” “Guys What They Need,” “Escape from Sleep,” “Inner Cosmos.” But the actor received recognition from a wide audience and the enthusiastic reviews of film critics after his transformation into a businessman of non-traditional sexual orientation in the dramatic film “Far from Paradise” directed by Todd Haines. For the performance of this role, Dennis was nominated for the Golden Globe film award and was awarded many other awards. Acting in the Pandorum horror, Dennis Quaid simultaneously managed to play General Clayton Ebernatey in the cast of Cobra and Aidan Breslin in the Riders. All three films were released in 2009.
Corporal Nolan Bauer (Ben Foster)
The debut in the film career of the American actor was the picture "Fake" in 1996. After that, Foster for a long period starred exclusively in television projects. He returned to the big screen in 2001, playing in the youth comedy film “Love Virus”. In the same year, he was approved as the performer of the role of Jamie Smith in the film "Black Hawk", but during the production of the picture Ben was seriously injured and was replaced by Charlie Hofheimer. The film “Hostage”, where he played a vicious but sensual psychopath maniac, is considered to be a real springboard to success in the actor’s career. Among the artist’s latest works, roles in such films as Warcraft, And the Storm struck, On the Run, and Pandorum are more significant. In 2016, Ben Foster starred in the movie Comanche Land. This film is currently completing the filmography of the actor.
Corporal Gallow (Cam Gigandet)
American film actor Cam Gigandet, who played the role of Corporal Gallow, a member of the team who received a message about the death of planet Earth before suspended animation, stands out among the performers of the secondary roles. The creative start of Gigandet’s career is considered participation in the television movie “CSI: Crime Scene”. The initial stage of the artist’s creative career includes three more famous series: “Jack and Bobby”, “Lonely Hearts”, “Young and Bold”. After which the actor disappeared from the cinematic horizon. He returned to the film industry only in 2007 in the comedy film "Who's Your Caddy?" Following are the roles in Never Give Up, Twilight, Burlesque, Shepherd and Pandorum. Cam Gigandet is currently one of the most sought-after young talents of the Dream Factory, only in 2014 he simultaneously starred in four films, such as “Red Sky”, “You Will Answer the End,” “Careless” and “Bloody Vengeance”.
