Antifungal agents. Ointment 'Exoderil'

Ointment "Exoderil" refers to antifungal drugs intended for topical use. As an active component in its composition naphthyne is used. This is a synthetic antimycotic that is part of the allylamine group. Ointment "Exoderil" has a fungistatic, bactericidal and fungicidal effect. The mechanism of its action is based on the ability of the drug to inhibit the biosynthesis of ergosterol in a fungal cell. Ointment "Exoderil" causes a lack of ergosterol and contributes to the active accumulation of squalene in the fungal cell. This, in turn, leads to the death of the fungal cell.

The fungicidal action aimed at dermatophytes, yeast-like, yeast and mold fungi is also characteristic of the drug . Ointment "Exoderil" is very effective against a number of gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms.

Topical application of the active substance promotes penetration into the skin layers, thus creating its high concentration. The penetration of naftifine into the systemic circulation is not more than six percent. The active substance absorbed in it is partially metabolized and leaves the body with bile and urine.

"Exoderil" cream is prescribed for fungal skin lesions that are caused by microorganisms sensitive to the action of the drug. These include epidermophytosis of the feet and skin folds, trichophytosis, fungal infections of the scalp, candida skin lesions, fungal nail lesions. The drug is also indicated for patients with complicated secondary infection of bacteria with mycoses and with pityriasis versicolor. The medicine in the form of a solution and ointment (cream) is used only externally, Exoderil tablets for oral use are not available.

It must be applied on a dry and clean area. When applying the drug to the affected area, it is recommended to process and healthy areas surrounding it. If the nail is damaged, it is recommended to remove the affected area as much as possible before using the drug.

The dosage and duration of therapy is selected as directed by the doctor.

As a rule, the drug is applied once a day in a thin layer, rubbing into a skin area until completely absorbed.

In cases of fungal nail damage, the drug is recommended to be used twice a day. The duration of treatment is about six months.

In cases of dermatoses, the duration of the course, as a rule, is two to four weeks. However, severe forms take longer to treat (up to eight weeks).

With skin candidal lesions, the drug is recommended for use within a month.

After the disappearance of the clinical manifestations of the disease, it is recommended to use the drug for at least another two weeks, thus preventing the recurrence of fungal infection.

For patients with mycosis of the external auditory canal, Exoderil is prescribed in the form of a solution. In this case, first the drug is applied in a small amount on cotton wool, then it is put into the ear for five to eight minutes once or twice a day. The duration of this therapy is at least two weeks.

After applying the drug in any form, it is not recommended to cover the area with a bandage.

After using the medication, wash your hands very carefully.

As a rule, the drug is tolerated satisfactorily. However, in a number of cases local side effects were identified. These include, in particular, redness and dryness of the skin, a burning sensation in the area of โ€‹โ€‹application of the medication. As practice shows, such manifestations are temporary and do not require abandonment of the use of the drug.

The use of ointment in the antenatal period should be monitored by the attending physician.

With extreme caution, it is necessary to use a medication in the treatment of children.
