TsIATIM-221 grease, the use of which is quite widespread, has been one of the leaders in production for quite some time. However, despite the fact that a lot of time has passed since the spread of this composition, some people still misuse or choose this fuel and lubricant.
General information
Some people believe that this grease is not suitable for any household devices or machines. Most often, this assumption is based on the fact that the name CIATIM itself is associated with the name of the university that developed the composition. The educational institution belongs to the aviation industry. However, the scope of TsIATIM-221 is much wider. It is possible that during the development of this substance it was planned to use it only in aircraft. However, the resulting product has become very popular in many industries, as well as among individuals.
Characteristics, application
A wide range of applications of TsIATIM-221 became possible due to the fact that its operational qualities are at a very high level. One of the most indicative characteristics of the widespread use of the lubricant is the temperature at which the material can be operated at 150 degrees Celsius. Also very important properties were low effective viscosity at significant subzero temperatures. The lower threshold for the use of TsIATIM-221: -60 degrees Celsius.
In addition to these indicators, one of the main parameters was also the inertness of the lubricant in relation to materials such as plastic and rubber. The substance shows such high performance characteristics due to the fact that an organosilicon liquid was chosen as the oil base. This component is excellent in friction pairs such as metal-rubber, plastic-plastic, plastic-metal. However, there were some shortcomings of this material. Due to the weak tribological properties of the organosilicon, it copes poorly with the separation of such pairs as metal-metal. Therefore, it is not recommended to use it for large bearings.
Selection and operation
TsIATIM-221 also found its application in specialized equipment. Most often, cryogenic chambers or high-temperature units become such devices. The operational characteristics of such a substance make it also an excellent assistant when working in a vacuum. In particular, because of this indicator, grease is often used not only in industry, but also in the manufacture of highly accurate instruments or devices.
It is worth noting that when choosing such a universal substance, you must be very careful, since fakes are possible. Some manufacturers, in pursuit of lower prices and higher demand from customers, began to use not refined organosilicon, but refined mineral oil, or, even worse, they simply dilute a form of grease such as Litol-24 with oil. Of course, the final cost is lower, but the characteristics of the use of TsIATIM-221 are precisely in the organosilicon, and without this substance the effect will be many times worse.
Differences 201 grease
TsIATIM-221 grease has another type with the number 201. Despite the fact that both compounds belong to fuels and lubricants, there are obvious differences between them. First of all, the difference between TsIATIM-221 and 201 lies in their composition, which, in principle, already indicates the difference in the areas of their use.
If grease 221 refers to a heat-resistant form, then 201 belongs to frost-resistant and refractory mixtures. The scope of this type of substance is lightly loaded nodes of rolling friction, as well as sliding. The lower working temperature range for these lubricants is the same: -60 degrees Celsius. But the upper limit of TsIATIM-201 is only 90 degrees.
201 lubrication characteristics
Such a fuel and lubricant is an ointment from light yellow to light brown in color. It is made from substances such as thickened lithium stearate, a low-viscosity low-setting oil, to which an antioxidant additive is added. TsIATIM-201 grease found its application in friction units of aircraft, landing gear or aircraft bearing systems. They use it extremely actively for processing and ground equipment, which is operated at low temperatures, most often in the Far North. This is one of the main differences between CIATIM 201 and 221. The moisture resistance of this substance is high, but due to the fact that the consistency is weak and the stickiness is low, it can be easily washed off from an open surface by any mechanical force. It is also important to note that during storage of a unique substance, oil is released that degrades its performance. It is also worth noting that the colloidal stability of this agent is low. It is this lubricant that can be operated for up to 700 hours in control system components, and in lightly loaded components it retains its qualities for up to 1,500 hours.
TsIATIM-221: GOST
This lubricant must be produced according to the established rules, which are prescribed in GOST 9433-80. This document defines the technical requirements for the production process and for the product already obtained, safety precautions, acceptance rules, test methods, packaging, transportation, storage, labeling and manufacturer's warranties.
The following can be distinguished from the technical requirements:
- the appearance of the lubricant should be in the form of an ointment with a smooth and uniform structure from light yellow to light brown;
- the effective viscosity of the obtained substance should be no more than 800 Pa / s, at a temperature of -50 degrees Celsius;
- The strength limit of the lubricant at a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius should be at least 120 Pa;
- the dropping point of the lubricant should not be lower than 200 degrees Celsius;
- the substance should not contain water;
- the material must withstand corrosive effects on metals;
- the volatility of the composition at a temperature of 150 degrees should not exceed 2% for an hour.
It is worth noting that such a GOST does not establish the price of TsIATIM-221.
Security
According to GOST, universal lubrication is not dangerous for the skin or mucous membrane of a person. It is also recognized as an inactive substance that does not have a toxic effect on the body. The maximum permissible concentration of this agent within the working zone in the air is 10 mg / m 3 .
It is also required to use standard protective equipment when working with this substance, which are established by the norms of an industrial enterprise. People who work with such a composition, before eating, before smoking, or after the end of the working day, must wash their hands with soap in warm water. In addition, the material is not fire hazardous or explosive. It belongs to the combustible substances of group 4. The flash point of the liquid base of this mixture is outside 265 degrees Celsius.
Storage, labeling, packaging, transportation
It is important to note that packaging, labeling, storage and subsequent transportation of goods must be carried out in accordance with GOST 1510-84, but with some additions.
The substance must be packaged in tin cans or, at the consumer's request, in aluminum tubes without an inner coating or coated with phenol-polyvinyl acetate adhesive from the inside. The capacity of these tubes should be from 40 to 200 g. The packaging of tubes is carried out in wooden or plywood boxes in rows. Each row should be separated from the previous by cardboard or paper. The gross or net weight of the tube is not indicated on it, and the year, month and batch number must be indicated and applied using marking.
The storage of fuels and lubricants is permitted only in the manufacturer's packaging.
The price of TsIATIM-221 depends on which packaging is purchased, as well as on the composition of the lubricant itself. Too low the price of this product indicates that the basis is not used organosilicon liquid. The average cost of this fuel and lubricant is in the region of 430 rubles. The maximum cost is determined only by the amount of material purchased.
