Among the characters of the Harry Potter epic, not everyone managed to live to a happy ending. However, a wizard named Kingsley Brewster was the lucky exception. He not only survived the battle for Hogwarts, but also managed to get a good job in the wizarding world after the destruction of the Dark Lord. What kind of character is this and what role did he play in overthrowing the Evil Lord?
Who is Kingsley Brewster?
In the original, this Potterian hero was named Kingsley Shacklebolt. The name Kingsley comes from King (king), and the surname Shacklebolt consists of two words: shackle and bolt. The first of them, translated from English, means “fetters” or “shackles”; and the second is the deadbolt. In other words, the name of this character can be interpreted as "the king of jailers." In fact, Kingsley Brustover deserves it, as he was one of the best among the Arabs, and later he thoroughly reformed the security system of Azkaban.
For the first time, book readers and epic moviegoers get to know him in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix series, after which he becomes an active participant in the fight against the Dark Lord.
Kingsley Description and Character
Little is known about the fate of this character before the resurrection of Voldemort. Despite the dark skin color, Kingsley comes from a family of respected purebred sorcerers who were among the thirty most famous families in the history of the wizarding world.
As a purebred wizard, Kingsley Brewster preferred to dress like Muggles, in addition, he wore a ring earring in his ear. Perhaps this was a reference to the fact that he was the last representative of a kind.
This sorcerer had a rather independent disposition and preferred to have his own opinion, while he was wise enough to know when he should be voiced and when it would be better to remain silent.
Brewster’s voice was velvety and very strong, and the speech was smooth - it had a calming effect on his interlocutors, especially on the Muggles.
What material the magic wand of this magician was made of - neither in the book, nor in the film adaptation is indicated, but it is known that it was quite powerful.
Patronus Kingsley Brewster
The unusual patronus was one of the important components of the power of a sorcerer named Kingsley Brewster. His patronus is a lynx, however, unlike others, she not only helped fight dementors, but was also able to transmit voice messages.
Thanks to this, Brustover managed to warn Harry and his comrades about the fall of the Ministry of Magic, which gave friends the opportunity to hide in time.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Character Debut
Acquaintance with this wizard takes place in the fifth part of the cycle - "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."
Due to the fact that a minor Harry illegally used witchcraft to protect himself and his cousin from dementors, he was threatened with expulsion from school. It was Kingsley at that time who helped Dumbledore not to be late for the disciplinary hearing and to get Potter to be acquitted. At the same time, he did not give a look and, with strangers, deliberately arrogantly spoke with members of the underground.
It is worth noting that Kingsley Brewster, along with Nymphadora Tonks, became the few employees of the Ministry of Magic who believed Harry's words about the return of the Dark Lord and entered into a fight with his associates.
Hiding his participation in the Order of the Phoenix, Brustover actively helped to destroy all the plans of the supporters of Voldemort.
After the denunciation of Dolores Umbridge about the existence of the Dumbledore Squad in Hogwarts, Kingsley arrived there as part of the commission and secretly contributed to the victory of the school principal, and also helped the children avoid severe punishment. He also actively concealed the shelter of Sirius Black, directing the investigation along the false path to Tibet.
After Dumbledore's Squad arrived in the Department of Secrets to save Sirius, and ended up in the hands of the Death Eaters, Brustver was among those adults who came to their aid. He had to simultaneously fight with two masked rivals, and later fight with Belatrix Lestrange, however, he could not overcome the latter.
After the events in the Department of Mysteries, the magical world officially recognized the return of the Dark Lord, and the Minister of Magic, who previously held this post, Cornelius Fudge , retired. In this post he was replaced by Rufus Scrimgeour. Since Kingsley had previously been his deputy and enjoyed full confidence, Rufus instructed him to protect the British Prime Minister under the guise of a personal secretary, which the hero did with great success.
In the next book and the movie "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" this character does not appear much, being on the protection of the Prime Minister of the Muggles. However, he still appears in the finale - at the funeral of Dumbledore.
Operation Seven Potters
The next meeting with Brewster takes place in the movie "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1". Together with other members of the Order, he arrives at the Dursleys house and helps the boy get to a safe place with the help of the "Seven Potters" operation. During the operation, Kingsley guards Hermione facing Harry. They fled from the Death Eaters on the festival and fought immediately with five opponents. Arriving in a safe place, it was Brustver who told his comrades that the Evil Lord was able to fly without a broom.
Having learned in time about the fall of the ministry, Kingsley managed to warn his associates. Under the new government, for some time he was able to maintain his post and spy on enemies. But later he inadvertently called Voldemort by name and, falling into disgrace, went underground.
However, even here he was not idle: he worked at the underground Potterwatch radio station. In addition, it was Kingsley who advocated for the help of Muggles by wizards. All of the above was limited to his participation in the events of the movie "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1".
Battle of the Hogwarts
After Harry Potter and his comrades returned to school, Bruster was among those who answered the call for help sent by Neville Longbottom. Together with Minerva McGonagall, this sorcerer became the head of the defenders of the school of magic.
In addition to organizational work, it was he who was among those few who dared to engage in a battle with dementors.
After the destruction of all the crucifixes of Voldemort, Brustver, along with Minerva and Slughorn, fought the Dark Wizard. However, their strength was not enough, and all three were stunned by the spell of the Evil Sorcerer, in fact, the appearance of Harry saved all of their lives.
The fate of Kingsley after the death of Voldemort
When the Scar Boy defeated the Dark Lord and his supporters were banished, Kingsley was temporarily appointed Minister of Magic. He showed himself so well that he remained in this post for twenty years.
As Minister of Magic, Broustver conducted many important reforms. First of all, he refused the services of dementors as guards of Azkaban, replacing them with experienced obscurantists. This hero also struggled with discrimination against unclean wizards, in particular, he appointed the Mudblood Hermione to a high post, and after his retirement made her his successor. Among other things, under Kingsley, the Ministry has significantly reduced corruption.
Kingsley Brustver - actor George William Harris
On the movie screen, this character was embodied by British actor George William Harris.
This artist was born in Grenada, but his childhood passed in Barbados. At the age of fifteen, George Harris left his native places and traveled around Europe for a long time until he settled in the UK.
With a very pleasant voice, he participated in musicals ("Jesus Christ is a superstar", "Hair" and "Cricket") and theater productions.
A career in a movie with an actor began when he was thirty, but she went pretty sluggishly. Only with the advent of the two thousandths he was often invited to appear.
Among the most striking of his works before participating in Harry Potter are the tapes Black Hawk, Puff Cake, and Translator.
Having played in the Potterian, the actor, unfortunately, did not become more in demand in the film market, but as a theater artist he is still very successful.
