Everything that is important for the successful distribution of films about dance groups is present in the film “Street Dances 3D ”: actors, music and special effects - there is everything here! Spectators sympathize with the main characters and even move to the beat!
The cast of the film
The film about street dancers, their aspirations, victories and failures, shot by BBC, resonated in the hearts of millions of viewers. In this picture, released in 2010, 3D technologies were used for the first time in Europe, thus ushering in a new era in cinema. The directors were able to combine different dance styles, show the “inside out” of grueling training and convey the spirit of competition and the will to win.
When the first part of the film “Street Dance 3D ” was released, the actors who played the main roles instantly became popular. All of them, one way or another, were already connected with dancing: they studied in studios or attended dance classes. The Surge, which performed several dances in the film and is the main rival of the main character in the story, is a professional team that took second place in the prestigious British talent competition in 2009. The original name of the group is Flawless. In addition to this part of the film, the guys from the group also starred in Street Dance 2.
The leading role, actress Nicola Burley, studied modern and theatrical dances in Leeds' hometown, and Thomas Winsor played the role of Thomas. Charlotte Rampling, who played Helena , is even more titled and marked with various awards in the cinema.
The beginning of the story
To shoot the film "Street Dance 3D" actors come to London. A small group of novice dancers are selected for the finals of a prestigious competition. At that moment, when the guys celebrate this victory, the group leader Jay announces his desire to move away from dancing, and the management of the group passes to his girlfriend Carly. However, he also refuses the girl.
Trying to cope with a panic, Carly collects the guys for the next training session, but they are waiting for an unpleasant surprise. It turns out that the lease of the hall in which they were engaged has ended, but there is no money to pay for the next month. Carly organizes rehearsals in a cafe, a hairdresser, and even on the street. Of course, this state of affairs does not suit anyone, but attempts to find a room for a reasonable price do not bring success. A few people leave the group, confident that without Jay they won’t win.
The case brings Karla to Helena - the head of the ballet studio. Helena highly appreciates the creativity of the dancers and agrees to provide them with a hall with one condition: to accept 5 graduates of her ballet studio into the group. This condition baffles both parties. Ballet guys and street dancers cannot immediately find a common language with each other. Carly is ready to give up, but understands that without this room the group would not be able to get ready. Training begins.
Hip Hop and Ballet
When Helena invites Carly to the ballet, the girl realizes that classical dances are not just movements at the machine, but whole stories without words. Her emotions are shared by Thomas - a ballet dancer. He suggests combining street style with ballet in dance.
From this day on, Carly seeks ideas for choreography, drawing inspiration from the world around her. A new round of training begins - now street dancers become to the machine and learn ballet techniques.
An unexpected obstacle is the coincidence of the date of listening to the Royal Ballet and the finals of the street dance competition - two equally important events for the team.
On the day of the performance, the excitement intensifies; it is not clear to the end whether the group will enter the stage or not. The guys from the ballet have to skip the audition in order to be on time. Fortunately for them, Helena negotiates with one of the members of the ballet jury that the judging take place directly at the competition.
When the music turns on and the first movements begin, the audience is perplexed. Ballet music and smooth movements are unusual for fans of street style. But Carly and Thomas with the help of emotions and passion embedded in the dance, were able to become winners, surpassing Surge.
What is the success of "Street Dance 3D"?
Actors so accurately convey their emotions through movements that they believe in everything. The work of choreographers and directors is impeccable, the selection of music is perfect.
After 2 years, the second film “Street Dance 3D” was released as another proof of the love and interest of the audience in dance projects.
