Work on the project was announced in December 2013. In June 2015, 20th Century Fox Studios hired director Kenneth Branagh to stage a new adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express. Active work on the remake began in the summer of 2016. The screenwriter was Michael Green, known for his work on two cult television series - "Heroes" and "Sex and the City."

Almost all the actors of the film “Murder on the Orient Express” in 2017 were approved for the role in the fall of 2016. One of the first tests was Leslie Odom, Jr., who received the role of Dr. Abetnot in the film.
Hollywood star Johnny Depp was cast as Mr. Ratchett, who was killed on an American train.
Many applicants were considered for the role of detective Hercule Poirot , but ultimately she went to Kenneth Branagh, who also acted as a director.
Interest in the role of Mrs. Hubbard showed Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron, but Kenneth Branagh preferred another no less famous actress - Michelle Pfeiffer.

Plot
The plot of the film "Murder on the Orient Express" is dedicated to one of the investigations of the famous detective-amateur Hercule Poirot.
Hercule Poirot, who has earned a reputation as an unrivaled detective, has to interrupt his vacation in Istanbul and travel to London.
The usual train journey turns into a bloody crime: one of the passengers, American Samuel Ratchett, was killed at night. The murdered man was not a pleasant person, and his death did not cause any regrets, but Poirot undertook an investigation, ready to get to the bottom at all costs. He does not yet know that he has encountered the most controversial and difficult matter in his career.
