Kenigson V.V. was born in 1907, on October 25, in Simferopol. His father was Vladimir Petrovich Kenigson, a nobleman, a sworn attorney, a Swede by birth, and the mother of the future artist was a woman from the people, a cook who was not even literate.

Father died early, and little Volodya Kenigson lived alone with his mother. She worked in the Cheka as a cleaner. A small family of two lived in the attic above the apartment of the chairman of the Cheka - Papanin. They lived very poorly.

Mother was able to arrange Volodya in a Simferopol gymnasium, where he could only unlearn 4 years. Despite the incomplete education and upbringing in a poor family, Koenigson possessed an innate aristocracy and noble appearance, which he inherited from his father.

These qualities, coupled with outstanding acting abilities allowed Koenigson to enter the Simferopol Theater in 1925. There he first studied in a training studio, and then took part in performances. Later, Vladimir Koenigson had to live and play in theaters of other cities. For some time, the actor successfully worked in Dnepropetrovsk.

In the war, the artist, along with the evacuated theater from Dnepropetrovsk, ended up in Barnaul. In that city, fate gave him a meeting with the famous Tairov. The director, along with the artists of the Moscow Chamber Theater, also lived at that time in Barnaul, in evacuation.

Vladimir Kenigson invited Tairov to attend performances with his participation. Later, the actors of the Chamber Theater, who were present at those events, recalled that Koenigson played on the stage so professionally and convincingly that this made the director want to bring him into his troupe and take him to Moscow with him.

In Chamber, the actor served until 1949 (until the theater closed). After which he entered the Academic Maly Theater. At this time, he begins to act in films.
