“Relations between May and December” in foreign countries, mainly English-speaking countries, call the romantic relationship between a mature woman and a young teenager. Over the entire history of the world film industry, this topic has been covered more than once; the directors have studied, far and wide, what such piquant connections can lead to. But in most films (“Flowering Time”, “Scandalous Diary”, “Persecuted”) such stories do not have a happy development, the narrative is sad in color. In contrast, the film “Heatwave” is a rather positive picture with the presence of a significant share of healthy irony and unobtrusive, vulgar humor.
Authors' intention
The picture was put by Sophia Lorraine, better known as a French-Canadian actress. “Heatwave” became her directorial debut. Subsequently, she made two more films, participated as a director in the creation of two French series.
The screenwriter of the project was the little-known playwright Michelle Mark Bouchard, on whose account work on only six films. Short storyline
At the center of the story of the Heatwave film is the main character Giselle, a 52-year-old social worker. Barely recovering from the shock, the widow falls in love again. Her chosen one is a 19-year-old ward, a difficult teenager, a drug addict, suffering from all this kleptomania. Yannick has a mutual attraction to his mentor. They try to suppress their feelings, but all efforts are in vain.
Life tragicomedy
Unable to resist surging love, Giselle is still trying to end the relationship. But Yannik, as their feelings develop, suddenly grows up sharply, turns into a man who can stand up for himself and his beloved. He openly announces their romance, notifying not only Giselle's colleagues, but her entire family. Having taken such a turn, a woman no longer resists feelings and frees herself from prejudice and enjoys happiness.
The overall bright mood of the picture perfectly matches the musical accompaniment, and erotic scenes were shot very sensually, but very chastely. With the translation of the film "Heat Wave" did not lose anything. This time, domestic distributors did not disappoint.
