Family and parents

The future theater and film actor in Odessa was born on June 17, 1964. His family was not full for long (his parents divorced), therefore his mother was mainly engaged in raising his son. She also instilled in Dima a love for the theater, as she had many friends among the actors. Dmitry’s mother and grandfather saw him as a future scientist; at a young age, a young man wrote a book with his grandfather. But the boy was not destined to become a scientist: his love for the theater, instilled in his mother, was very great.

Dmitry had a good relationship with his father, they periodically saw each other. In my memories there were kayaking on mountain rivers, skiing, expeditions.

At school, Dima was not an excellent student, and he was not characterized by exemplary behavior, but the teachers did not put him “bad luck”.

Already at school, Dmitry Shevchenko took part in amateur performances. Then, like a significant part of the graduates, he entered the Odessa Polytechnic Institute at the Faculty of Economics. During the years of study, the future actor took part in the production of pop miniatures, was a member of the KVN team. Gradually, he had a dream to become an actor, and when in 1986 he graduated from the Polytechnic, he decided to enter LGITMiK. But there was one problem: he had to work for three years in the specialty he received.

In 1991, Shevchenko played several performances in the community of dramatic actors in St. Petersburg. He was spotted by a director from the St. Petersburg Academic Theater. A.S. Pushkin, and then invited to the troupe. In this theater, Dmitry Shevchenko worked for five years. During this time he managed to play many roles, both main and secondary. Dima loved the theater, but always dreamed of acting in films. In Moscow, Dmitry began acting in the videos of A. Ukupnik, F. Kirkorov, Valeria and many other famous musicians, thanks to which he gained some fame. He was invited to appear in an advertisement for Nezavisimaya Gazeta, and later in the film Mu-Mu. It was then that the future star was noticed by the Kiev directors, who were selecting actors for the series “Bourgeois's Birthday”. Dmitry got an interesting role as a pimp Arthurchik, although this did not happen right away. The actor Dmitry Shevchenko played his character perfectly, so he immediately attracted the attention of the public to his person.

After the release of the film, the directors for a long time offered Dmitry similar roles. But the actor refused, because he believed that he had a slightly greater potential. This was reflected in such films as “Detectives”, “Poor Nastya”, “12 Chairs” and others. The range of characters played by Dmitry Shevchenko (the filmography includes dozens of films loved by the audience) is very wide.
