Elric Alphonse and his brother Edward are the central characters in the anime Fullmetal Alchemist and the sequel remake of The Brotherhood. These heroes from childhood have known the sorrow of loss, and therefore became incredibly strong. Their adventures lead to one single cherished dream. Brothers are the exact opposite of each other, but this does not prevent them from being a great team.

The multi-part film Fullmetal alchemist tells the story of a world that is completely built on the laws of the science of alchemy. Some people have an innate ability to do all kinds of things with the help of the circle of transformation. The only rule is equivalent exchange. This means that you can create an object only if you give in return something equivalent to its value in material and spiritual terms. In addition, all revitalization operations are prohibited for any person. People who show an ability for alchemy are taken to serve in a special department of the empire, where they are trained and used as weapons in war.
Younger brother
Even in his small years, Alphonse Elric was different from his brother. He was always calm and incredibly kind to all living beings. The guy never offended anyone and always took everything to heart. This was especially pronounced when someone pointed to his attached soul to steel armor. In a team with his brother, Alphonse is a lever of restraint, because Edward completely lacks a sense of danger and self-preservation. He is ready to rush into the thick of the fray at the first urge, and then it is Alfons Elric who points to a more correct solution in a given situation.
As a child, a guy often fought with his brother for who would love a neighbor's girl, but these years remained in the past after a fatal mistake. It was at that moment that the character lost his own body, and his brother tied his soul to the nearest armor. Even after the tragic event, the guy did not give up on life. He always tries to be good-natured, although he cannot sleep, eat, breathe and enjoy life, like all living people.
Head of team
All creative ideas and solutions in the adventures of two brothers come from Edward Elric. It was this guy who received the title of steel alchemist and became the youngest soldier in the service of the empire in a special unit. He did not care that he would have to follow unpleasant orders, because joining the army opened access to new knowledge that he wanted to use to fulfill his cherished dream of his brother Alfons Elric.
They both burn with this desire and support each other everywhere. Only Edward always acts as an impulsive leader who is ready to rush to the rescue of loved ones and even ordinary passers-by. After breaking the ban, his abilities advanced, although he sacrificed a leg and a hand for it. From the day his brother lost his body, Edward wears prostheses and uses them as weapons.
He does not need to draw an alchemical circle, since he can make transformations directly. In conversation with other heroes, the anime character can be sharp in his utterances, but he always cares about people dear to him. A guy often keeps all his worries in himself, if only others would not worry about him. So Edward Elric shows himself throughout the original anime and sequel remake.
The reason for the tragedy and the birth of a dream
It is worth mentioning that the brothers' father was an incredibly strong alchemist and all their skills are an inheritance from him. He left the children with his mother and went on a journey for personal reasons. The children were waiting for his return and did not know about the mother’s illness. Soon the woman died, and little geniuses could not accept this loss. They learned that there is a forbidden alchemical recipe for reviving a person and decided to use it. When the circle and all the ingredients were ready, the brothers set to work. As a result of the violation of one of the main prohibitions, the gates opened, from which the dark hands took completely the body of Alfons and the hand with Edward's leg.
In the twilight, the elder brother managed to draw blood in a circle inside the old armor and tie the soul of the only kindred person who remained with him. He managed to do this, and they wandered to the neighbors who managed to put them on their feet.
Soon, a fiery alchemist Roy Mustang visited them, who invited the guys to serve the empire. In the anime "Fullmetal Alchemist", Alphonse Elric and Edward agreed to this, because only they could learn more about their new goal - the philosopher's stone. This relic could violate all established laws due to its incredible power. Only in this way could one get their bodies back, and from that moment the brothers had a dream.
