Many remember the cult in the vague nineties dilogy "Brother" and "Brother 2". She reflected the essence of that time as a mirror, however, while extolling gangster romance. But in those years, the years of six hundred Mercedes and raspberry jackets, this was what was needed. The film, falling into the soul of any Russian person, was shot in 1997, already at the end of the gangster century, by the young director Alexei Balabanov. No one believed that this film would have such a resounding success. We talked, became friends and together came up with a plot. But the financing was very tight, of course. The prisons were overpopulated, but the producer found a way out - a historic place served as a camera - a guardhouse of the Moscow commandant’s office, where Lavrenty Pavlovich Beria spent his last hours before execution.
