Everyone loves stories of love that makes people perform various deeds. In books and films, noble personalities are usually capable of such a strong feeling. But what if the love story is about siblings who, contrary to generally accepted laws and traditions, risked fighting for their feelings? These lovers are Jaime and Cersei Lannisters from the popular television series Game of Thrones.
A little about the "Game of Thrones"
Game of Thrones is now a very popular fantasy series. Its plot is based on a series of books by George Martin, "Song of Ice and Fire." The name of the project was the name of the debut novel of the cycle - “Game of Thrones”.
According to the plot, in the fictional world on the continent of Westeros, the struggle for power between the most powerful noble families begins. The reason for this is the intrigue of the wife of the ruler of the mainland - Cersei. The fact is that the twins Jaime and Cersei Lannister have been lovers for many years.
Moreover, all the king’s children are in reality the bastards of Jaime.
Cersei Lannister (actress Lina Headey)
Cersei is the eldest of three children of Tywin and Joanna Lannister.
She also has two brothers - the twin Jaime and the dwarf Tirion. She is an incredibly beautiful, cunning and ambitious woman. However, her vanity ruins, because of which she commits many crimes. It is noteworthy that Cersei in the television series is more intelligent and far-sighted than in the book.
In his youth, Cersei was in love with Prince Reagar, but during the uprising he was killed by Robert Baratheon.
When the Baratheon dynasty reigns on the throne, Cersei is given to marry her representative - King Robert. However, the glorified hero in reality turns out to be a narrow-minded person, a drunkard and a womanizer. Cersei gradually takes power into his own hands.
Among other things, even after the royal wedding, the twins Jaime and Cersei Lannisters continue their long-term romance.
However, over time, some courtiers begin to speculate about incest. Therefore, in order to save herself and the children whom Cersei loves very much, she organizes the murder of the king-husband. In addition, the queen mercilessly cracking down on rebellious enemies and enthrones her eldest son - bastard Joffrey.
Many lords do not want to submit to the new ruler. Only through the efforts of Father Cersei Tywin her son manages to maintain the throne. Soon, Tywin decides to strengthen his power to marry his daughter to the noble noble Willas Tyrell and remove him from the royal court.
Due to a combination of circumstances, the father dies, and Cersei remains at court, moreover, after the death of her eldest son, power passes to the youngest, still very young Tommen, whom the queen can easily control. However, in the person of the wife of his son, Cersei sees a competitor. The fact is that in her youth she was predicted that she would become a queen, but later she would lose power because of a younger rival.
Trying to get rid of Margaery by intrigues, Cersei herself falls into the trap - she is accused of treason to her husband. After that, she is in prison and gradually goes crazy, awaiting trial for all her deeds.
The story of the book Cersei ends so far, however, according to the events of the sixth season of the series, the queen, having lost all power to deal with her enemies overnight, blows up the septum, where they all gathered. After their death, as well as the suicide of the youngest son of Cersei, Lannister (actress Lina Headey) was crowned the first Queen of Westeros.
In the television series, the role of Cersei was played by the British actress Lina Headey (known for her works “The Jungle Book”, “Gossip”, “The Brothers Grimm”, “300 Spartans”, “Judge Dredd 3D”). For the "Game of Thrones" she was nominated several times for Emmys, Saturn and other prestigious awards.
Young Cersei in the series was played by Nell Williams.
Cersei Brother Lannister - Jaime (actor Nikolai Coster-Waldau)
Unlike the ambitious sister, Jaime Lannister did not crave power.
From childhood, he proved himself to be an excellent swordsman and experienced warrior. Despite his beauty and charm, which would help him achieve the favor of any woman, he faithfully loves his sister. Upon learning that they want to marry him, Jaime becomes a knight of the Royal Guard, as they are forbidden to marry. Unlike Cersei, he loves and takes care of his younger brother, the dwarf Tyrion.
During the uprising, he killed King Eiris, for which he received the nickname "Regicide".
At the very beginning of the cycle, during their stay in Winterfell, Jaime and Cersei, the Lannisters were accidentally spotted by their master's son while they were making love. Jaime throws the boy out of the tower window so that he does not tell what he saw.
After the outbreak of the Civil War, Jaime is captured. Soon, Jaime frees Caitlin Stark, the mother of one of the candidates for the throne, taking from him a promise that he would protect her daughters. Jaime is accompanied by the only female knight of Westeros - Brienne Tarte. Once captured, Jaime saves Brienne from rape, and she helps him survive the transformation into a cripple (Jaime's right hand is chopped off).
Returning to the court, Jaime goes into conflict with his father. He also begins to have problems with Cersei, who now treats him rather coldly.
Later, Jaime is poisoned by the war. When a letter comes to him from Cersei asking him to urgently come and protect her, Jaime ignores him. Later, he meets Brienna and goes with her to save the daughters of Caitlin Stark, as promised.
In the series, Jaime continues to love Cersei and after her betrayals. Moreover, he is constantly trying to help her. However, at the end of the sixth season, having seen how the sister became the queen, she is disappointed.
Actor Nikolai Koster-Waldau (Enigma, Wimbledon, The Kingdom of Heaven, The Wall of Fire, Bounty Hunters and others) plays an excellent role in the series Game of Thrones. Jaime Lannister in his performance turned out to be a more lively and sensitive character than described in the book.
Children
Jaime and Cersei had three children: sons Joffrey and Tomman, as well as daughter Mircella. According to the events of the television series, they all died, as predicted by the prophecy. In the book cycle, only Joffrey has died so far.
It is known that Cersei once became pregnant from Robert, but she begged Jaime to help her get rid of the child, because she wanted all her children to be from her brother.
Relationship on the side
Cersei was a rather loving woman. She often cheated on both Robert and Jaime. At the same time, she still loved her brother.
Unlike his sister, Jaime was faithful to her. In the television series, even learning about her betrayal, he continues to defend and defend her interests. In parallel, Jaime has feelings for Brienne Tarte. She is ugly, but true to her duty, like a real knight. This at first causes Jaime to ridicule, but later he begins to respect her and trust her. Brienne falls in love with Jaime, because she sees in him a lot of good, hidden under a mask. Whether this pair has a future is still unknown.
The love story of the twins Cersei and Jaime from Game of Thrones causes a lot of heated debate. Some condemn lovers, not only for an unnatural connection, but also for the fact that the Lannisters actually launched a civil war. Others, on the contrary, sympathize with the brother and sister and admire them. In any case, this love story did not leave anyone indifferent.
