Fishing reel - a recognized need!

There are some adaptations that a modern fisherman can’t do without (although earlier generations have somehow managed perfectly well). These, of course, include fishing reels. Long gone are the days when reels with a supply of fishing line made of wire or other improvised materials were mounted on folding float gears - sectional or sliding, without much difference. Today it is no longer possible to find a rod that would not be equipped in a modern way. A fishing reel has become an essential element of almost any fishing tackle. You will learn about which devices are the most popular today from our article.

Main functions

But in the beginning - about some features of the application. In principle, initially the fishing rod reel with a float began to be used as a storage reserve for fishing line. It was undoubtedly much more convenient to wind the fishing line on it than to hook it on the protruding ears (who remembers, they were still made from pieces of wire and wound around the handle with an insulating tape). But progress was advancing, and the fishing reel began to perform additional functions. Among them: fishing fish, working with a long fishing line during fishing (since this device allows the fisherman to quickly reduce / increase the length of the fishing line). It also turned out to be useful reel for fishing rods and in the event of a break - with the aim of quickly setting up gear again.

What devices are used

Currently, inertial and inertialess devices and their varieties are used for float tackle. Let's take a closer look at each of the options.

Inertial posting

This type of inertial device is a rotating drum and an axial sleeve. There is also a special bracket (T-shaped) for attachment to the rod handle. The drum (spool) can be one-piece and two-disc. The diameters of the drums are different - from 50 to 200 mm or more. When throwing tackle, the fishing line is pulled and wound freely from the drum, carrying out its rotation. Coils of this type have a dull brake for fixing the drum itself, and friction for forcibly removing fishing line from the device. Or use the so-called "ratchet" - a simple device to prevent winding. Such coils are made, as a rule, of light aluminum alloys.

  • Small coils (up to 120 mm) are used on float rods for fishing from the boat or for greater depths from the shore.
  • Coils larger in size (up to 200 and above mm) are placed on tackle intended for catching large predatory fish.
  • Small (50 mm) are used for catching gudgeon, small perch, crucian carp on stream or from a boat.

Multiplier

This type of inertialess reels is designed to automatically lay fishing line on the spool. In this way, the speed with which the fishing line is wound is increased. Such devices, as a rule, have complementary bonuses: automatic braking system, reverse lock, fishing line counter, the ability to change the gear ratio.

Inertialess

As a rule, they are used for match gear when catching predatory fish on live bait, for example. They can be used where long casts and fairly quick winding scaffolding are needed. For float gear set speed (1: 5.2 or 1: 6.2). Inertialess devices consist of a spool, which is stationary, and fishing line is wound from it. The winding is done with the help of a logger in the form of a folding bow on the coupling that rotates.

In principle, the latter option is the most progressive. But before you assemble a fishing rod with a reel, you still need to carefully choose from the above, in accordance with the goals and objectives of fishing, and then your fishing will certainly be catchy!
