Climatic maps. What is it and what are they?

In a science called geography, maps occupy the most important place. With their help, we can see the very structure of our planet, the deposit of various underground minerals, the borders of states and the location of cities. Amid this abundance, climate maps cannot be ignored. With their help, we can easily find out what weather conditions will await us in a particular country.

Interpretation of the term

The map of climatic zones is a characteristic of a long-term weather regime, which is largely due to geographical features. In other words, this is an image of our planet, which is given in the framework of specific weather zones. Each of them has its own geolocation, its own characteristics and its own name. It is worth noting that climate maps are always accurate in theory. The transition lines from one weather strip to another are clear, the boundaries are indicated exactly to millimeters. But in practice, that is, in reality, there is no such strict division into different climatic zones. The weather at the transition points always changes gradually, acquiring certain new qualities and losing old ones. Well, now we propose to consider whether the climate regions are present on our planet and how they are characteristic.

climate maps

Equator

The hottest strip of the Earth, which spreads north and south from the middle parallel. The climate here is hot and very humid, torrential rains occur daily, but due to increased activity of the sun, the earth dries quickly, and becomes stuffy again. The pressure is extremely low, the winds are slow and insignificant. There are no annual fluctuations in air temperature, and daily allowances are very insignificant.

Tropics

Climate maps show that the tropical belt passes through Australia, the middle part of South America and through South Africa, respectively, in the Southern Hemisphere. In North, it is found in Central America, North Africa and the Middle East. This climate dominates two natural zones: deserts and evergreen forests. Annual temperature fluctuations are present, but they are insignificant. Mostly the humidity level changes. Heavy rainfall occurs in the tropics for six months, and a bright sun shines for the second six months.

Temperate zone

Anyone who has studied geography at school does not need to look at climate maps to say exactly where the temperate strip is located. It occupies almost all of Russia, as well as most of the United States and Canada. In the Southern Hemisphere, a temperate climate spreads predominantly over the waters of the ocean. We also know the features of this weather region. Four seasons that are fundamentally different from each other, a sharp change in temperature and moderate humidity.

Arctic areas

On climate maps, these areas are located around the North and South poles. They are known for their record low temperatures, almost complete absence of precipitation and, as a result, flora. The Arctic climatic zone affects the northern lands of Russia and Canada, Greenland and the Arctic Ocean. In the south, it extends over Antarctica.

Weather over Russia

Despite the fact that our country is the largest in the world, it cannot boast of a variety of weather conditions. Almost all of its territory falls into the region of cold weather, so cold and snowy winters are so characteristic of us. The climatic map of Russia is divided into the following zones: Arctic, temperate, continental, monsoon and sea, plus a narrow strip of subtropics. Most of the territory is located in the region of the temperate continental strip, which is characterized by a change of seasons and record temperature fluctuations. Also, climate maps of Russia do not disregard the marine regions and subtropical. True, these are just a few cities on the Black Sea coast.
