How is massage with osteochondrosis done

By the number of issued sick leaves, not only acute respiratory diseases, but also osteochondrosis are leading. This disease can even affect young people, lasts a long time and is prone to exacerbations. With osteochondrosis of the cervical spine, pain occurs in various areas of the shoulder girdle. Headaches and dizziness are frequent. According to medical statistics, women are much more likely than men to have osteochondrosis. But in men, in this case, exacerbations and complications more often arise that require surgical intervention.

Massage with osteochondrosis is successfully used in the treatment of any type of this disease. It helps to accelerate blood and lymph flow, relieves pain, improves the restoration of spinal functions. Massage can be used as a prophylaxis to prevent the occurrence of this disease.

It is recommended that the first sessions be done sparingly so as not to provoke excessive muscle tension, which, with an energetic technique of techniques, can lead to additional pain. Massage with osteochondrosis of the cervical spine is best done in the supine position, but if desired, massage can be performed while sitting. The most important condition for a successful procedure is the maximum relaxation of the muscles of the patient’s back and neck.

Start massage with osteochondrosis from the back. First, stroking, then squeezing and kneading. Each dose is repeated 3-4 times. Particular attention should be paid to the upper back in the area of the shoulder blades. Here, stroking is done 6-7 times in the direction from the lower corner of the scapula up to the neck, alternately from two sides. After that, they begin to massage the forearms, if the patient sits, then you can also do stroking, squeezing and kneading the large pectoral muscles (5 times on each side).

If you carry out this treatment procedure in order to defeat cervical osteochondrosis, the massage continues by massaging the pectoral muscles with the same movements. Then all attention switches to the neck area. Stroking, conducted in the direction of hair growth from head to down to the back is carried out 8-10 times. If this movement does not cause pain, then make squeezing movements along the lines on the back and side of the neck. After that, stroking the entire back and squeezing the upper part of the shoulders is carried out.

Massage with osteochondrosis will not be effective without proper rubbing of the spinal column. Rubbing should be carried out in straightforward movements using the pads of four fingers, covering the area including the occipital bone to the back and approaching as close as possible to the spinous processes (up to 5 times). Circular movements are also made with the pads of one or more fingers.

When rubbing the spinal column, the neck muscles should be extremely relaxed, and the head tilted forward. Thanks to this, the massager will feel better the processes of the vertebrae and will be able to better feel them.

As a rule, after 6-8 massage sessions the pain subsides. In this case, you can carefully rotate the neck in different directions during the massage. If pain occurs in the shoulder joint or shoulder, then these areas are massaged after a thorough treatment of the neck and shoulders. The final part of the procedure includes a general massage of the neck, back, shoulder girdle and complete the massage with a gentle stroking.

After the pain in the spine has decreased, the massage technique changes. The number of stroking movements must be reduced, and the number of squeezes, kneading, and rubbing should be increased. The main techniques of the last sessions should be rubbing. The duration of the first procedures should be 5-7 minutes, and the duration of the subsequent increases to 12 minutes.
