Mug fishing

Mugs are floating, predominantly live bait, tackles intended for fishing predatory fish. They have been known for about a century, but have become widespread over the past two decades as a result of the efforts of enthusiastic fishermen who have significantly improved both equipment and gear for this type of fishing. The construction of new hydraulic structures and canals contributes a lot to this, where this kind of fishing is most favorable.

Mug fishing is carried out only far from the coast, from a boat, in clean reservoirs, lakes and reservoirs. In search of a catchable fishing area of โ€‹โ€‹the reservoir, the fisherman sometimes travels many kilometers in order to find a place for the fish to stay and arrange gear. In addition, he needs to swim on time when biting, properly hook fish.

That is why fishing on the mugs is much more interesting and productive than the same passive fishing on live bait fish with seine, zerglits, etc. The fisherman must know many nuances, while he must be able to control the boat.

Mugs are gear with a high catchability. They, covering a large front of the water, with a little wind themselves find the fish, floating on its sites. Therefore, fishing in circles has a significant advantage over many species that are able to catch only a small area.

Moving along the course, the mugs float on the fish sites, quickly detecting a predator and accelerating the bite. And if the place where the fisherman opened 10-15 circles is chosen correctly, then a good catch is guaranteed.

The most common are disk-shaped circles having a thickness of up to three and a width of up to fifteen centimeters. They consist of two parts - a disk made of wood or polystyrene and a pin - a cone-shaped stick, which is thickened on one side and has a slot on the other. A shallow groove is made around the disk around the disc for winding fishing line, while a hole for a stick is pierced in the center. There should be two cutouts on the disk, necessary for fixing the scaffold during the installation of the circle.

In fact, the circle, by its principle, is the same zerzilla, only floating.

The most interesting is fishing on mugs in the supports, cluttered with bogs, driftwood, and the top. In such places, the circle-maker has almost no rivals. And although sometimes he risks losing his gear when hitting, he is more than rewarded with an excellent catch. In such water bodies, a huge deep pike, a large perch or an old pike perch often become prey - lovers of hiding in the supports.

Fishing for clubs will be effective only if the angler is aware of the weather in advance, more specifically, of the direction and strength of the wind, which is the driving force in this type of fishing.

And if, for example, fishing for carp in circles is to be taken, then the course must be taken into account. Mugs must be opened in front, placing them in the wind.

It will be much more convenient and easier for the fisherman if the circles have the longest possible sailing distance. Otherwise, after affixing the last circle, he will immediately return to the first to remove it.

The optimal length of a tony is considered to be a distance of half a kilometer: then the circles are normally surveyed, and a significant part of the reservoir is covered.

The preparation of the circles begins even on the shore, installing the masts in the holes, making hooks and launching live bait in the "stable". Having reached the front section of the tony, the angler puts the boat perpendicular to the direction of the wind, and then, having measured the desired depth, sets the circles. To do this, the required amount of fishing line is threaded into the slot, wrapped around the mast and again threaded back.

Depending on what kind of fish the fisherman is going to catch, the size of the bait is chosen. And if you need a fish with a palm for a trophy, then a three- or seven-centimeter live bait is enough for ordinary fishing.
