My family - essay: modern trends and I

The Russian version of My family is an essay in English.

The task was to write it in English.

This is an essay on the theme of My family.

Today, there are many types of families. A traditional nuclear family with two parents and one child slowly emerges from the picture of the world. More and more broken families or, in other words, families where only one parent. There are more and more of these types all over the world and in Russia in particular. There are also types such as an extended family, which can be seen quite rarely, and a childless family, which is becoming popular in our career-oriented world. More and more people decide to become a family, but not create a family. They often think that just having a pet is enough.

About me.

My family is not traditional, but it is widespread. This is an incomplete type of family. I have a single mother and a father who does not live with us. I have no brothers and sisters - instead, I have a cat. This is a popular modern trend: people have cats and dogs as the equivalent of a child. In my case, it was instead of a brother or sister. There are two types of incomplete families - those that started in this way, and those that broke up over time. Mine is the second type. My parents divorced when I was very young, but they did not divorce. This reflects the fact that almost no one in Russia dares to start lengthy divorce proceedings. Everything is resolved on a personal level. My grandfather and grandmother do not live with us - they have their own home, and I visit them every weekend, like my father, who visits me several times a week. Every Sunday I come to them, and we discuss everything that happened during the week. Then my grandmother cooks me chicken - this is our Sunday tradition. I have cousins, aunts and uncles who live somewhere far away, in Europe, Israel and the USA, but we never communicate. Some people, especially in America, are usually very close to their cousins, but this is rarely the case in Russia. It seems that I saw my cousin only once in my life, when I was so small that I could not clearly preserve these memories.

We are fine.

My family, although not quite united, is still very friendly. We often get together to watch movies in the evening. When my father arrives, my mother prepares a special dish for us all. It is very decent and in the spirit of the modern world that they communicate so well after parting. This is one of the advantages of modern relationships - people can safely look back at their lives, and not break off relationships with loved ones.

My second family.

In addition, I consider my friends as my family - the one I chose myself. Every weekend I visit my best friends. Our ties are akin to the ties that I have with my original family: we love each other, we help each other, and we are always ready to forgive each other our weaknesses.

Conclusions.

I think it is important to understand that your family cannot be perfect in the broad sense of the word, but it is always ideal for you because it belongs to you. Your blood family and the one that you have chosen for yourself is what helps us to cope with difficulties during the day, and I am glad to know that I have both families. This was a little information about my family. Thank you for your time.

End of My family.

Now the original.

My family is an essay in English.

Introduction

There are many types of families these days. The traditional nuclear family with two parents and one child is slowly coming out of the picture. There are more and more broken or, in other words, single-parent families appearing all over the world and in Russia, in particular. There are also such types as an extended family, which can be seen quite rarely, and a childless family, which is becoming popular in our career-oriented world of business. More and more people decide to be a family but not to start a family. They often think that a mere house pet would suffice.

Family types

About me

My family is not a traditional one, but it is a widespread kind. It is an incomplete type of family. I have got a single mother and an estranged dad. I don't have any siblings - I own a cat instead. This is that popular modern trend: people adopt cats and dogs as an equivalent to a child. In my case, it was a substitute for a sibling.

There are two types of single-parent families: the ones that started that way and the ones that broke up with some time. Mine is the second one. My parents got separated when I was quite young, but they never got divorced. It reflects the fact that almost no one in Russia chooses to go with the lengthy divorcing procedures. Everything is resolved on the personal level.

My grandparents don't live with us - they have their own place and I visit them every weekend, much like my father who visits me several times a week. I come to my grandparents' place every Sunday and we discuss everything that have happened during the week. Then my grandmother cooks me some chicken - it is our Sunday tradition.

I do have some cousins, aunts and uncles who live somewhere distant, in Europe, Israel and the US, but we never get in touch. Some people, especially in America, are usually very close with their cousins, but it is rarely the case in Russia. I think I saw my cousin only once in my life when I was so small that I wasn't able to save the memory in my mind.

We are fine

My family, even though not exactly united, is, nevertheless, quite a friendly one. We often get together to watch movies in the evening. When my father comes, my mother cooks a special meal for all of us. It is extremely decent of them and in the spirit of the modern world to have left things on good terms. This is one of the advantages of the modern-day relationships - people are able to look back calmly at their lives and not to severe ties with the loved ones.

My second family

Also, I consider my friends to be my family - the one I have chosen myself. I visit my best friends every weekend. Our ties are akin to the ties I have towards my initial family: we love each other, we help each other out and we are always ready to forgive each other's weaknesses.

Family and friends

Conclusion

I think it is important to understand that your family cannot be perfect in a broad sense of the world, but it is always perfect for you, because it is yours. Your blood family and the one you have chosen for yourself are what keeps you going through the day, and I am happy to know that I have both.

That was a little bit of information about my family. Thank you for your time.

Thank you for attention

That was My family - composition.
