It's no secret that the success of fishing largely depends on well-chosen gear.
One of the main elements of any fishing, of course, is a fishing hook. It must meet such a basic parameter as the proportionality of the proposed fish, and also have excellent strength characteristics.
Do not even think to save on fishing hooks - it will not work. Understand one thing: if you buy low-quality hooks, then you risk spoiling your fishing. Spend a small amount on good branded hooks and protect yourself from unpleasant surprises.
What are the attributes of a good fishing hook? First, it must be sharp. Swipe the nail slightly with a hook - if the nail is scratched, then the hook is sharp, if not - you can throw it away and do not buy any more. Secondly, the fishing hook should not be unbent and break when fishing. If during fishing you noticed that the hook has changed its shape, then change it to another company of the same kind (maybe a random marriage). If the situation recurs, throw them away.
Modern fishing hooks have high strength due to hardening. Therefore, it is advisable to choose red-hot. Owner fishing hooks are probably the highest quality. There are series for feeder fishing (bream, roach, for crucian carp), as well as for float fishing. Sizes are the most diverse.
Speaking of hook sizes. Some fishermen have an opinion that large fish need a large hook. Previously, this was justified, since the quality of domestic hooks was mediocre. Today the choice of quality hooks is so huge that you can safely choose the 12th number for the feeder and catch two-kilogram bream on it. In numerous feeder competitions, this is the most common hook number. And by Soviet standards, of course, this is a throat.
Hooks for the method of attachment to the fishing line are of two types - with a spatula and a ringlet. If you know how to properly attach a fishing hook, then it does not matter which one to take. It looks even more elegant with a spatula, and some argue that they are stronger attached to the fishing line.
When buying hooks, pay attention to their characteristics. If the hook is branded, the package must indicate its number according to international classification, the diameter of the wire, and also give instructions for tying.
How to choose a fishing hook for this or that fishing? This largely depends on the nozzle, to a lesser extent on the type of fish. If you use vegetable nozzles and maggot, then the hook should be with a short forearm, but if the worm, bloodworm and caddis - then with a long one. The diameter of the wire is desirable thinner. But if you rely on large specimens, take a little thicker.
If you use polystyrene as a nozzle, and in addition some nozzle, then the weight of the hook must be such that the foam lifts it with the nozzle. This is the essence of the foam: it is needed so that the nozzle is floating.
Going fishing, take many different hooks with you to feel more confident while fishing.
