First steps in sports
Sergey Shumakov was born in 1992 in the city of Chelyabinsk. Hockey is very popular in this city. Perhaps that is why Sergei chose this sport. His grandfather at that time was an employee of the stadium "Youth". It was he who brought the young boy to hockey, although he himself had never played him. Since childhood, Sergey has been playing as a striker. He was always on the team scorers list. Sergey Shumakov has high speed, power and a magnificent throw in touch. All his childhood he played with the current NHL star Evgeny Kuznetsov. This bunch inspired fear on the opposing team. Game in the MHL
Sergey made his debut early for the Polar Bears team, which plays in the Youth Hockey League. In 2009, she entered into a professional contract with him. Already in his first year he had 58 matches. After this season, the team’s breeders and agents of leading Russian clubs became interested in Sergey. Shumakov spent his best season in the Youth Hockey League for the Siberian Snipers club. In the season, he played 57 matches and scored 55 points.
KHL debut
For such an effective performance in the Youth League, Sergey was transferred to the main team of Siberia. His first appearance in the KHL was on February 17, 2012 in a match against Vanguard. After the games well-conducted by Sergey on October 14, 2013, the Siberian club management decided to return him back to the team.
