Steelworker work

After graduating from high school, John Corbett moved to California and got a job at a steel mill. The work was hard, the tasks of the steelworker and adults coped with difficulty, and Corbett, thanks to good physical preparation, effortlessly rolled carts with molds from one end of the workshop to the other.

John worked at the plant for six years, but then had to leave due to a back injury. Then Corbett decided to take up dramatic art and entered the class of theater actors at Cerritos College of California. While still a student, he took part in several productions, while showing good acting skills.

After listening to the positive feedback addressed to him, John Corbett decided to go to Hollywood and begin his acting career there. However, the Dream Factory in Los Angeles met him unfriendly, and the future star had to start with commercials.

Carier start

Only in 1988, John was noticed and invited to the film industry, where he played in the teenage series "Wonderful Years." The role was episodic, but the debut took place. Gradually, John Corbett began to play more significant characters. The two-meter growth of the actor, on the one hand, allowed him to play exclusive roles of tall heroes, and on the other, such types are not so common in film projects. Nevertheless, John Corbett did not stand idle.

In 1990, the actor received his first starring role (Chris Stevens from the TV series "North Side"), which made him incredibly popular among the audience.

In 1991, Corbett made his debut in a big movie; he played a small role in the action movie Flight of the Intruder, directed by John Millius.

Creative activity

The year 1993 brought the actor a role in the western "Thomstone: Legend of the Wild West", directed by George Cosmatos. Then, with a break of several years, two roles followed: in the film "Volcano" directed by Mick Jackson and "Annals of Osiris" directed by Joe Dante.

In the nineties, John Corbett worked a lot on images in television projects and simultaneously starred in movies for the big screen. Another starring role of the actor was the character of Aidan Shaw in the popular series Sex and the City. John Corbett, films with whose participation have already become expected by the general public, continued to actively star in new film projects.

Among the recent works of Corbett, one can name such films: “Dreamland,” directed by Jason Matzner, “Kings of the Streets” by David Eyer, “Messengers” directed by Oxide and Danny Pan, “The Burning Plain” by Arriaga Guillermo and others. In 2009, John Corbett played in the melodramatic film "I Hate Valentine's Day" directed by Nii Vardalos. The character of Greg Gatlin significantly added to the actor's popularity.

Personal life

John Corbett was married only once. His wife is a model and actress Bo Derek (Mary Kathleen Collins), the widow of a catwalk and studio photographer, a regular reporter for Playboy magazine Joe Derek.

Currently, John Corbett and Bo Derek live in Santa Barbara, a city well-known for several action-packed TV shows. Spouses have no children. John Corbett, whose wife supports him in everything, leads a diverse life full of all sorts of hobbies, both sports and intellectual.

Often, he and his wife break loose, and they leave for another long trip across America. After leaving California, the couple cross many states. Usually the voyage ends in Florida, and sometimes in New York. It all depends on how many days John had between the shootings. We have to reckon with the rules, since penalties for disrupting the filming process are expressed in six-digit numbers and amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Therefore, it is better to return to Los Angeles on time.

The actor is happy to participate in baseball competitions, high growth gives him a significant advantage over other players. Not a single contest "Fast eater" is complete without it. He has no equal in towing a dispute to heavy-duty trailer vehicles when he needs to stretch a multi-ton colossus to a predetermined distance. Competitions are held in fine weather on a specially equipped venue. A heavy tractor with a trailer clings to a cable that is mounted on the athlete’s shoulders. In some cases, strong men pull the car with their teeth. This is considered the most difficult stage in the competition. Winners receive large sums of money and certificates.
