The new adventurous military thriller Luke Besson, who acted as a co-author of the script and producer, was met with restraint by the film community and received an average rating of IMDb: 5.60. The film "Reckless" (2017) is notable for its weak action, but it presents a gallery of colorful and funny characters to the audience.
Vain expectations
Traditional cinema, which tells about the adventures of "fur seals" to the eyeballs, is full of furious action. The project is declared as a romantic comedy, the viewer does not lose hope that in between romantic episodes the heroes will fight fiercely in the air, under water and on land. Moreover, the work of director Stephen Quayle is positioned as an action movie with elements of a thriller, and the presented trailers confirm the implementation of copyright intentions. They are also echoed by posters depicting stern guys who know how to be brutally silent and cast a falconry look at the superior forces of the enemy. But, according to critics in the reviews of the movie "Reckless", fans of the genre while watching expects disappointment.
Brief description of the plot
The fact that the events of the film develop in the midst of a military operation in Yugoslavia in 1995, reviews about the movie "Reckless" does not particularly exaggerate. But the precedent with the gold of the Nazis is evaluated very willingly. A detachment of American soldiers stationed in Bosnia will find out from the local waitress Laura that tens of tons of gold bars have been buried at the bottom of the lake since World War II. “Navy SEALs” decide on an unauthorized operation to remove them from the depths in order to leave a part for themselves, and the rest - to give to restore the destroyed area. While the detachment is preparing to implement the plan, they are being hunted down by the Serbian military, eager for revenge for the abduction of the general.
Right off the bat
Reviews of the movie "Reckless", published by viewers - fans of action, confidently declare that the first minutes of timing fully met their expectations. Indeed, the demonstration of the military mission to capture the Serbian general is exemplary for genre delights. The captivating pursuit of tanks, accompanied by abundant destruction and spectacular explosions, can surprise everyone. When the development of the action calms down, the beholder anticipates the subsequent no less dashing battles, in which five key characters, led by the character of Stapleton (the TV series Blind Zone, Retaliation), will blow everyone to smithereens. However, reviews of the movie "Reckless" warn that the director of "Toward the Storm" in this project, having spent the lion's share of the budget on the initial episodes, then dramatically changes tactics. As a result, the balance of the narrative is not perfectly calibrated. After the first minutes of timing, the picture is likened to adventurous films about robberies. For the most part of the story, the heroes prepare for the mission, and the authors replace the action scenes with intelligence, conversations, and calculations.

Friendship story
The culmination of the tape is the rise of gold bullion. The routine of the operation is diluted by the Serbian military, plying the lake surface and throwing grenades into the water. Naturally, they explode beautifully, but do not cause significant damage, only increasing the degree of drama. When the American unit pops up, the action ends immediately, the narrative continues with an epilogue explaining the further fate of the discovered treasures.
Fortunately, in the work of Stephen Quayle there are aspects that, according to cinema experts, can give the viewer pleasure. This is a wonderful story about male friendship, not without good-natured friendships, and teamwork. In addition, the movie has a lot of impressive underwater filming, which in itself is valuable.
Acting Ensemble
Although the story is based on a story about the American military, only two performers from the United States starred - J. K. Simmons (La La Land, Obsession, Spider-Man) and Joshua Henry. The rest of the actors in "Reckless" represent an international ensemble. The real decoration of the film was the ex-model - the Dutchwoman Sylvia Hooks, who played the role of the waitress Laura. The actress looks many times more spectacular than in the image of the antagonist from Blade Runner 2049. The excellent professional German actor Clemens Schick, who methodically fills with the anger of his hero, was not lost in the shadow of more famous movie stars. No less memorable image of the shooter and pilot was created by Ewan Bremner (“On the Needle”, “Wonder Woman”).
