The main character Vladimir comes home after work. His wife asks to go to the store for pasta and bread. On Kalininsky Prospekt, near a bakery, a young man with a violin approaches him.
He draws the attention of the hero to a barefoot man who claims to be an alien. The stranger shows Gedevan and Mashkov a small device and is interested in the number of their planet. The foreman considers a stranger crazy. The hero reaches out to the device. The stranger assures that they need to be able to use.
The foreman presses a button. As a result, the Violinist and Vova are instantly transported to the sandy desert and find themselves under the scorching sun. Heroes decide that they were in the Karakum. Later it turns out that they were transferred to the planet Pluk, in the galaxy Kin-dza-dza. The inhabitants of this space look like people. The local language is Chatlan, consists of several words.
Planet Pluck is more developed than Earth. At the same time, the equipment here is worn out, rusted and does not work well. Fauna and flora are completely destroyed. Water is turned into fuel. The population of Plyuk, like the whole galaxy, can be divided into two categories - “patsaki” and “chatlan”. Affiliation is determined using the "visor".
Patsaks are discriminated against. They must wear a special bell in their nose. In addition, having met chatlanin, they are supposed to crouch in a special way. For offenses, the latter are harsher. Patsaki artists have the right to perform exclusively in an iron cage.
In public transport, segregation takes place. Violinist and Vova are patsaks, according to the testimony of the visor. The heroes begin contact with the artists. The latter have their own spaceship. However, in the pepelats there is no node necessary for interstellar flights. Earthlings have to do the search for the required gravitsappa.
An unexpected help is the fact - the greatest value on the Plus - “KC” - matches. Smoking Vova has a whole box. The possession of the KC increases the social status of the heroes. Uef decides to save. Instead of going to the city for a gravitsappa, he flies to smugglers. Vova gives them matches.
Smugglers on their ship run away. Even the artists who lose the capital of earthlings are abandoned. The violinist and Vova are forced to look for ways to survive and earn money. Soon they manage to discover a new source of income. Plucan is in great demand with the earthly songs they perform.
During the next meeting of earthlings with Uef and Bee there is a small fight. As a result, Gedevan's violin breaks. Heroes in it discover a match that accidentally got inside.
Artists, hoping to acquire a gravitappa and go to Earth to buy a large number of KC, send Mashkov and Gedevan to the “planetarium” to determine the location of planet Earth. Having learned the number, Uef and Bee are trying to steal the last match from Mashkov. Gedevan turns to the guardians of the law for help. Uef and Bee are being arrested. They are sent to a local prison. The etsilopp removes the match. The amount of the fine is set, which must be paid in order to get the artists out of prison.
