Skater Victoria Sinitsyna is the beautiful half of one of the best dance duo on ice in Russia. In her sports career, she experienced a break with a long-term partner - Ruslan Zhiganshin, and in recent years she has been trying to build working relations with the Olympic champion Sochi-2014 Nikita Katsalapov. At first, they rubbed against each other, but now their athletic results inspire hope for the best to many fans of a beautiful dance couple.
Ice therapy
The stories of many professional athletes are alike. In childhood, many of them were painful children, and parents gave them to sports clubs to temper and strengthen. The biography of Victoria Sinitsyna developed according to a similar scenario.
She was born in 1995 in Moscow. Vika was a fragile girl, often had a sore throat, and parents decided to take her daughter to figure skating. The choice fell on the Vympel ice rink, where Sinitsyna faithfully skated, honing equipment and plastic.
Until ten years, she skated alone, but it soon became clear that Victoria was a little tall for a single woman's skating. Nevertheless, it was perfect for dancing on ice - spectacular, leggy, Victoria Sinitsyna would be a magnificent partner for any Olympic champion.
The first partner for the girl was Ruslan Zhiganshin, with whom they will cooperate for ten long years. Svetlana Alekseeva and Elena Kustarova, mentors of which were already Bobrova and Soloviev, became the mentors of the newly formed couple.
In the shadow of competitors
During their junior performances, Victoria Sinitsyna and Ruslan Zhiganshin initially did not stand out among their many competitors, taking modest positions behind the leading couples. No one seriously believed that they would be able to fight for medals in major tournaments in the future.
However, in the 2010-2011 season, they made a breakthrough by winning several awards at the junior stages of the Grand Prix. The next year, Sinitsyna and Zhiganshin made a big step forward and won absolutely all the tournaments in which they took part. These included the Grand Prix finals, the championship of Russia and the world among juniors. The logical step for the young promising couple was the transition to adult figure skating, where they would face new challenges.
Fighting for a place in the sun
The transition of Victoria Sinitsyna and Ruslan Zhiganshin to a new level coincided with the departure of their two leading couples from their mentors to Alexander Zhulin. They began to receive a large portion of attention, but at the same time, the level of responsibility for young children also increased.
According to Victoria Sinitsyna, whose photo will decorate any cover of the magazine, it was very difficult for her to move from juniors to the adult world, where she felt like a defenseless chicken.
The guys held their first tournaments uncertainly, only by the end of the season having gained form and won the prestigious tournament.
In 2013, Sinitsyn and Zhiganshin were sent to the Winter Universiade to defend the honor of the country. After the first part of the performances, they confidently held in second place, but could not cope with the excitement and dropped to third position in free dance.
The decisive tournament for the guys was the Russian Championship, held in December 2013. It was here that the tickets for participation in the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi were played. In a difficult competition, they took third place and won the right to go to the main starts of the four-year period. However, the youth of Sochi was affected by the youth and the lack of great competitive experience at a high level. They made many mistakes and finished the tournament only in sixteenth place.
Break with Zhiganshin
During the 2014 World Cup, Victoria Sinitsyna shocked her friends with the news that she was riding with Ruslan Zhigashin for the last time. Soon there was official confirmation of the information that a peculiar castling would take place in the Russian team - Zhiganshin would cooperate with Elena Ilinykh, and her former partner Nikita Katsalapov would begin to build sports relations with Victoria Sinitsyna.
For fragile Victoria, this decision was not easy, and at first she and Nikita could not find mutual understanding on the ice, rubbing themselves against each other's riding style.
However, the magic of personal relations gradually spread to the ice, and in the Olympic season they gave the public a good program, with which they set a personal record during joint performances.
