On February 1, 2007, the manga invented by Milan Matra was published. The main character was a boy named Yuto, whose life literally turned upside down on his sixteenth birthday. After almost 3 years, in January 2010, the premiere screening of the anime “Omamori Himari”, known in Russia as “My Guardian Himari”, took place. Plot
The Omamori Himari manga was first published in a magazine called Dragon Age. The main character, a boy, Yuto Amakawa, was left completely alone seven years ago, because his parents, who, incidentally, were from the clan of fighters with demons, died. Before death, they managed to leave only a mysterious amulet to their son. This talisman, possessing protective charms, was supposed to protect Yuto, but only before he was 16 years old. Until this age, the boy was under the supervision of a childhood friend - Rinko Kuzaki. It should be noted that the boy did not know anything about his fate, he never encountered anything paranormal, and therefore was completely not afraid of demons. He saw the only threat in cats that were allergic to him.
On the sixteenth birthday, the charms of the magic amulet disappear; he no longer protects the young man from evil spirits. But the evil spirits did not even have time to rejoice! One amulet is replaced by another. This is the spirit of the Himari werewolf cat, which once took an oath to the grandfather of the protagonist to protect and preserve the last descendant of the ancient clan. To disguise Himari performs all his duties, taking on the image of a very seductive girl with dark hair and a katana. As you know, the mascot should protect its master everywhere. Even if he, like in Omamori Himari, is a cat girl. The defender accompanies the guy absolutely everywhere - at school and at home, on the street and in bed ... This turn of events is clearly not to the liking of Rinko (a close friend of the protagonist), because all her plans flew ... to perfume. But Himari fulfills the main mission - demons, who usually take seductive female forms, cannot get to Yuto.
From this moment, the life of the protagonist changes dramatically, and the events that happen to him make you wonder: "Isn't it time to take everything into our own hands?"
Omamori Himari Characters: Yuto Amakawa
The main character, Yuto, is the only heir to one of the twelve demon killing families. His parents died in a car accident, and he became depressed. Yuto was able to heal a normal life only with the help of Rinko. Throughout his life, the boy was protected by the charms imposed on the amulet, which slept on the day of his sixteenth birthday. On the same day, he met the spirit of a cat - Himari. Complicating the situation is the fact that Yuto is allergic to cats.
Over time, Yuto’s life becomes more and more interesting: one day he learns that he has the power of “Steam of Light”. Initially, the guy is not able to possess this power, but over time, he learns to handle it.
Himari Noihara
She can be called the most unusual heroine of the manga and anime "Omamori himari." The demon cat spent all the time with Yuto when he lived with his grandparents. By the way, despite the fact that she is a white cat, her hair is black. Himari loves Yuto since his childhood, and therefore it is not surprising that she flirts with him. Thanks to shared memories, they come closer even closer.
Himari is very good at katana; in a fierce battle, she can easily lose her mind. Then she becomes a cat demon, losing the ability to control bloodlust. It is worth noting that the mother of Himari died immediately after her birth, and the father of this heroine is a wild cat. Among the characteristics of a cat-girl, her limited knowledge of the modern world, politeness, superhuman strength and speed, incredible endurance should be noted. In addition, Himari is a true melee master.
Rinko Kuzaki
Rinko is Yuto's closest friend. It was she who cried with him when his parents died. And she helped him out of a severe depression. Rinko is simply crazy about the main character of Omamori Himari, and therefore it is not surprising that she is annoyed by other girls flirting with Yuto. She is not at all difficult to interrupt the romance, for example, hitting Yuto on the head. By the way, this couple has an interesting tradition - at every summer festival Yuto buys two red ribbons, which Rinko then gives. The girl has a cat - Ranmaru. Incidentally, he sometimes performs the function of an alarm clock, and with the help of Ranmaru, the girl blackmails Yuto (do you remember his allergies?). Among the abilities of Rinko, her excellent sports training should be highlighted.
Shizuku
At first glance, it may seem that this character is just a pretty girl with short green hair. Perhaps the only oddity is a strongly stretched snake tongue. However, in fact, it is the demon Mizutri - Water Dragon. Shizuku breathes well under water, can control water and ice, using them as weapons. The first meeting of Shizuku and Yuto occurred at the river. Then the Water Dragon warned the youth that he would kill him if he became a killer of demons.
Lislett L. Chelsea
Lislet is a waitress in a cozy tea room. But she is not a real girl, she is a tsukumogi. That is, an object that has found a soul. Her real body is an antique cup. Meeting Yuto, Leeslet decided that he was an exorcist who was trying to kill her. This was the reason that the waitress mixed magic into Yuto's tea. Fortunately, Shizuku managed to warn him. Lyslette has superpowers, for example, due to the fact that her body is just an illusion, she will survive, even if a knife is thrust into her heart. In addition, it has super speed and superpower.
Tamamo no Mahe
This hero is the spirit of a nine-tailed fox. In the anime, he appears in the image of a little girl who looks no more than 8-10 days old. Tamamo is an ayakashi cannibal, that is, this spirit is nourished by other ayakashi in order to gain strength. This character is fluent in magic: he knows how to set protective barriers and use powerful attacking spells.
Sueten doji
A constant companion of the previous hero is one of Japan's most powerful ayakashi Shuten-doji. His goal is to receive unlimited power. He tries to achieve this by passively manipulating Tamama. Shuten-doji died after losing both of his bodies - material and spiritual.
Kaya
The deaths of Yuto are desired not only by demons. The spirit of the hearth named Kaya loves Himari, and therefore dreams about the day when the keeper no longer has to protect the guy. After all, after this Himari will be able to return to Noihara. Among the superpowers of this character, one can note the ability to generate a protective field.
Ageha
Everyone who saw Omamori Himari on AnimeVost (the largest anime base) is also familiar with the air demon named Ageha. She tried to kill Himari and Yuto. The latter, by the way, saved her from his guardian. Ageha drank Yuto's blood in the hope that this would protect her from the cannibal. This demon can stretch his arms, owns hypnosis, pyrokinesis and edged weapons.
Sasa
The constant companion of the demon Ageha is the demon smith Sasa. It is worth noting that, unlike anime, Sasa is a boy in the manga. This demon is able to shoot rays from the eyes, significantly increasing its mass. In addition, Sasa knows everything about weapons, can summon logs: they fall from the sky directly to the enemy.
Kuesu Jingujitipa
Cues is the daughter of a clan of demon killers. In her childhood, she and Yuto entered into an agreement according to which they should get married. Kuesu is incredibly aggressive, and besides, she can be described as a very narcissistic young lady. At the same time, Kuesu loves Yuto for real, but he never shows it. Probably for this reason she does not like Himari. By the way, it is worth saying that it was this girl who cast the spell on Yuto, which caused him to be allergic to fluffy pets.
Anime "My Guardian Himari"
The first anime series was released in early January 2010. Worked on "Omamori Himari" directed by Shinji Usiro. A total of 12 episodes were released, each lasting 25 minutes. Thanks to the AniDUB (“AnIDAB”) resource, “Omamori Himari” was also able to see spectators from Russia. They willingly share their impressions: the monsters in the series do not look scary, they are caricatured funny. And some are even pretty enough. Anime lovers and beautifully drawn battle scenes celebrate. Some say that My Guardian Himari is an anime touching, funny, and sometimes too frank.
Fan fiction
Many people liked the “Keeper”, and therefore it is not at all surprising that a lot of fan fiction appeared on the manga “Omamori Himari”. On “Samizdat” you can find a number of additions and sequels written by amateurs. Fans offer their versions of events, narrate from other characters, view the original version from a completely different angle. The chapters of his amateur work are tied to anime series, however, heroes are increasingly independent. There are also new characters. Omamori: what is it?
In the photo below you can see an object called “omamori”. As you might have guessed, this is a Japanese amulet. It is dedicated to a particular deity. It should be noted that the word "omamori" is a respectful form of the noun "mamori", which can be translated as "protection". We will tell you that this is Omamori. Usually this talisman is made of fabric, under which paper or a piece of wood is embedded, on which the words of prayers are written.
Omamori is often attached to the phone, bag, fixed in the car. By the way, on one side of the amulet it is indicated in which temple it was purchased, and on the second its purpose is indicated. It is worth saying that there are "universal talismans", but there are also those that are designed for any specific purpose: there are omamori that help in school, work, and personal relationships. You can find a talisman that will help improve your health! It is impossible to open the protective amulet, otherwise it will simply lose its strength. Omamori is changed once a year - it is believed that this allows you to leave in the past all the failures that occurred over 12 months. The old talisman should be returned to the temple where it was made.
