They are also often used to seal off branches in the operation of which there is no longer any need. Flanged plugs serve as the main structural element to ensure the safety and reliability of operation of pipelines of any type.
At the moment, there are many varieties and modifications of this end piece, each of which differ in shape, material, method of attachment and structural features. Flanged plugs, as a rule, are installed on the desired output of the pipeline with threaded connections. The main feature of such products is that there are no holes directly in the central part of their body.
Flanges for pipelines in their structural structure are not much different from similar products used in other industrial and economic fields. Plugs of this type are made primarily by hot stamping or by cutting from solid sheets of steel alloys. Such a technological approach leads to the absence of any joints or moving parts, which only adds reliability, durability and safety to the product.
Flanged plugs are most often used on pipelines of the chemical, gas, oil industries, as well as on other lines of increased environmental hazard. Such parts, manufactured in compliance with all technological standards and correctly installed, are designed for pressure from 6 to 160 kg / cm 2 . But in practice, they are able to withstand even more, since manufacturers lay a certain reserve and margin of safety in them.
As for the temperature range and climatic conditions, the steel plug of this type demonstrates excellent functionality and durability ranging from minus seventy to plus six hundred degrees Celsius, as well as in conditions of high humidity or, conversely, very dry air. Four varieties of these products are distinguished, depending on the design features and the type of sealing connection: with a protrusion, a hollow, studded and for oval cross-section pipelines.
Such plugs are extremely resistant to the damaging effects of all kinds of chemically aggressive environments. That is why they are intended mainly for use in toxic extreme conditions of the chemical industry. With the help of them, it is possible to carry out short-term or permanent conservation of flows in the end zones of pipelines and to be sure of the safety of the line, for any reason taken out of service. It is also quite advisable to use these products for the production of various containers and tanks of industrial scale and purpose.
