He can be called from anywhere in the world, and he will certainly respond to help children. And often he does not have to ask: Dr. Roshal himself offers his help. In critical situations, he is ready to give up everything and go to save people. This happened for the first time when an earthquake occurred in the Armenian Spitak at the end of 1988. Having heard about the emergency, Dr. Roshal, who was present at the scientific conference, said that he would immediately go to the epicenter and asked his colleagues: “Who will follow my example?” Almost everyone agreed. A brigade was formed immediately, which still travels around our country in order to provide medical care to children. So Dr. Roshal became known throughout Russia.
However, the medic never pursued fame. He received recognition solely for his outstanding services.

Roshal Leonid Mikhailovich - a native of the town of Livny, located in the Oryol region. He was born on April 27, 1933. His father was the commander of an aviation division, and therefore the family often moved from place to place, from one settlement to another. Leonid's mother graduated from the working faculty. Parents predicted the boy a military career. However, already in the fifth grade, he wrote that when he becomes an adult, he will "operate appendicitis." In the prewar years, the family lived in a small apartment in Moscow, in 1941 they had to move to Kubinka, Moscow Region, and from there to Tatarstan. After the war, the future doctor Roshal, whose biography, of course, deserves a separate consideration, has changed more than one place of residence. Leonid Mikhailovich had to stay in Tula, Yaroslavl, Lyubertsy for some time.
After graduating from school in Chkalovsk (Moscow region), the young man chooses a medical path and enters the MOLGMI them. N.I. Pirogov at the faculty of pediatrics.
Labor activity

In 1990, children's doctor Roshal became the head of the International Committee for Assistance to Children Afflicted in Disasters and Wars. He also led the International Children's Charity Fund.
From 2003 to this day, Leonid Mikhailovich has been the director of the Moscow Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology at the Moscow Department of Health.

As already emphasized, the doctor’s team travels around the world to come to the aid of victims of technological disasters, terrorist acts, and military conflicts.
In particular, the team of Leonid Mikhailovich rescued people after the railway accident near Ufa, the explosion of an industrial enterprise in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Members of the Roshal brigade repeatedly traveled to war zones, namely: Yugoslavia, Georgia, Abkhazia, Romania, Azerbaijan, Chechnya. They also provided assistance to victims of earthquakes that occurred in India, Egypt, Japan, on the island of Sakhalin, in Turkey. Of particular note is the participation of the Roshal brigade in assisting the victims of the terrorist attack that occurred in 2002, on Victory Day, in the Dagestan Kaspiysk. Doctors immediately went to the scene of the tragedy, and then they managed to save about 27 children.
Events on Dubrovka
During the commission of the terrorist act, Leonid Mikhailovich was one of the few whom criminals allowed and released from the besieged building. The doctor made every effort to provide assistance to the victims. He managed to bring the child out of syncope, relieved another boy of asthma and prevented the development of an epileptic seizure, to which the third child was held hostage.
Little of! Dr. Roshal in one of the Nord-Ost toilets arranged something like an operating room ... Here he helped people with bullet and shrapnel wounds. The doctor also provided medical assistance to the affected criminals. When it comes to fulfilling professional duty, the boundaries between “friends” and strangers are blurred. He made attempts to relieve all the victims in the hall from pain, and outside the Nord-Ost he provided moral support to their relatives and friends.
For the dedication and courage shown during the terrorist attack on Dubrovka, Leonid Mikhailovich was awarded the National Hero Prize.

Dr. Roshal tirelessly insists on television and in the press that it is necessary to create a high-quality training system for paramedics.
He is categorically against the total production in our country of films whose plots are saturated with blood, violence and cruelty.
The doctor very much hopes that thanks to his efforts someday an international organization of a worldwide ambulance for children will appear. Once he shared his plans with employees of the non-governmental international organization Doctors Without Borders. However, unfortunately, they ignored his initiative.

Leonid Mikhailovich and today takes an active part in the life of the country. At the beginning of this year, he supported the idea of ​​ending the military conflict in the Donbass. As co-chair of the All-Russian Union of Public Associations "Civil Society - to the Children of Russia", he considers it his duty to help kids and adolescents who have suffered in wars and disasters.
