Naturally, bloody films affect the human psyche. Moreover, the influence of such film projects is both negative and positive.
Spectator Nerve Training
Horrors and tapes of other genres, using an incredible amount of fake blood, are designed to scare the beholder, cause fears hidden deep in the subconscious. They effectively concentrate on the dark side of the human person, war, hunger, killings, violence. Every year, the number of lovers of such paintings is growing. This trend is explained by the fact that human culture is becoming more humane and the townsfolk are sorely lacking in adrenaline. Therefore, the bloody films in our chaotic modernity are positioned by experts as training for human nerves.
According to the results of the art project
More recently, case studies of the director’s Cut art project have been conducted, according to his hypothesis, the bloodiest films are the ones with the most on-screen murders. Specialists have compiled a list of 653 paintings.
The leader among them was the fantastic action movie Guardians of the Galaxy (IMDb: 8.10). For 121 minutes of timing, 83,871 kills are shown on the screen, while the tape has only an RG-13 rating (viewing is not recommended for children under 13 years old). Significantly behind in the number of murders (5,687), but occupies the second position of "Dracula" directed by Gary Shore. TOP-10 includes: the last part of the trilogy on the Ring of omnipotence “The Return of the King” (2,798 kills and 4th place), the third series of the movie “The Matrix. Revolution ”(1,647 killings and 7th place),“ Braveheart ”by Mel Gibson with 1,297 killings in 9th position.
Surprisingly, the least bloody were called: “Deadpool” with a rating of R and 51 killing, the second part of the fantastic painting “Mad Max” with the title “Warrior from the Road” and 50 murders and the Japanese painting “Samurai: The Way of the Warrior” that has not lost its vividness with five dozen victims.
"Bloody" director
Among the endless list of features that define Quentin Tarantino's directorial style, the main one is his disposition to blood and violence. Most of his works are highly stylized action films, very bloody films. In the director’s works there is an abundance of blood and murders, but most of them still happen behind the scenes, the viewer sees only their consequences. Tarantino violence does not really scare the beholder, as it is a fantasy, beautifully designed and professionally played. Nevertheless, only during the production of the aesthetic gangster action movie with martial arts “Kill Bill” did Tarantino order and use up to the last drop of 1,700 liters of fake blood. Of course, the abundance of bloody scenes in the works of Tarantino can be due to the specifics and style of the genre in which the director creates, but the director himself says otherwise. According to him, it is "just very funny."
Splatter
Bloody horror films are mostly related to the sub-genre of splatter, in which the creators deliberately focus on an extremely naturalistic demonstration of blood.
The progenitor of this subgenre of cinema is considered to be Herschel Gordon Lewis. His "Blood feast" (1963) is a real scandalous legend of horror cinema. A horror film with an IMDb rating of 5.00 is officially recognized by the world's film critics as the first gore film in history.
The term splatter was coined by George Romero for Dawn of the Dead (IMDb: 8.00), in the picture 80% of the screen time is filled with a demonstration of streams of shelter and cut off parts of the body. The brainchild of Romero with a well-deserved MPAA –R rating, subtle irony, not bad philosophical overtones and black humor is worthy of a leading position in the Best Bloody Films category.
Asiatic blood fun
Splatter projects, according to an analysis of renowned film critic Michael Arnzen, are "modest fun in fake blood and a form of contemporary art." The splatters listed below are characterized by a demonstration of the physical destruction of the body, the blood in these tapes is a fundamentally woven part of the film.
The Suicide Club (IMDb: 6.60). Sion Sono's original project presents an exciting cocktail of black comedy, horror, detective story and youth drama. The story of how once 54 schoolgirls jump under a train at a certain moment. The tragedy practically turns into a natural trash, in which liters of blood gush in all directions.
The Japanese film director Yoshihiro Nishimura's Tokyo Blood Police (IMDb: 6.00) can be described in one sentence - trashy, bright, evil, and cruel. Action scenes with computer graphics are highly technical. Hundreds of gallons of blood, massacre, dismemberment of bodies, insane killings and surprisingly beautiful camera work.
American splatter
Bloody films made in the USA cannot be counted, their incredible number. Therefore, it is worth restricting yourself to the classic representatives of the genre:
- Land of the Dead (IMDb: 6.20) directed by George A. Romero. The film was highly praised by critics, individual filmmakers positioned the project as an eschatological social parable, others as a very daring cinematic exercise on the subject of zombies. The director’s attempt to remove the post-apocalyptic dystopia was a success, the meat splatter turned out to be amazingly creepy and believable.
- The youth hostel horror film "Hostel", directed by Elijah Roth, paid back ten times its modest budget of $ 4,800,000. Within 94 minutes of time-lapse, a chilling blood unfolds on the screen, a terrifying, naturalistic and sophisticated cruel action. Despite the specifics of the genre, the first film gave rise to two sequels: Hostel 2 and Hostel 3, directed by Scott Spiegel. These two tapes in the trilogy turned out to be an order of magnitude more powerful and tougher than the first picture.
Slasher saga
The slasher saga "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" began in 1974 with the work of Toub Hooper. The original tape has an IMDb rating of 7.50. Some film critics call her the first slasher in the history of cinema. The film was a phenomenal success. The picture is an absolutely original project, which impresses the beholder with its asphyxiating, monstrous atmosphere and paradoxically cold demonstration of dismemberments in various ways.
The zeal of the horror genre, director Marcus Nispel, in 2004, the story of the brutally brutal killer maniac - the notorious Texas Chainsaw Massacre - got a remake (IMDb: 6.20). The picture was shot correctly and, most importantly, beautifully, if one can characterize the bloody frenzy that is happening on the screen.
The remake was successful, so in 2006 a prequel appeared with the subtitle “Beginning”. Director Jonathan Libesman was unable to get close to the success of the nowadays classic Leather Face horror. In the atmosphere of Libesman’s work, of course, fear soars, but it is mixed with disgust, which causes a bloody mess, reproduced on the screen.
And John Lusenhope’s newfangled project “Texas Chainsaw 3D Massacre” (IMDb: 4.80) was called by film critics a fearless slasher about the continuity of family traditions. Despite the fact that the film collected disappointing reviews from experts, and its 3D effects were considered the worst in history, he paid for his production in one weekend of the show.
They don’t judge a movie by name
The film "Bloody Sport" (IMDb: 6.80) directed by Newt Arnold, despite its name, can hardly be called a bloody film project - this is a sports action movie. The plot of the tape is quite simple and based on certain facts from the biography of Frank Dux. The dramaturgy of the tape in its own way looks perfect, although the bulk of the narrative is crammed full of fights. The masterpieces are also impressed with the applied rapid-speed shooting, correctly selected camera angles, brisk editing, including the “cross” one. And the lead actor Jean-Claude Van Damme, demonstrating the crown techniques, pleasantly surprises with the acting, proving that he is the owner of the charisma of a genuine star.
The story of the terrible deeds
The film "Bloody Lady Bathory", with an age rating of 16+, begins with a beautiful episode in which a girl traces a bloody trail behind a girl climbing the steps of an ancient castle. After what he saw, the beholder involuntarily tunes in to an adult, tough and bloody sight. However, the story of the terrible atrocities of the Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Bathory is later more similar to a terrible children's tale. Director Andrei Const and screenwriter Matthew Jacobs tried their best to convey the terrifying and bloody story of the countess-killer, but the gloomy atmosphere in their film is supported by only incessant sinister music. Thus, the tape, positioned as a thriller about the Blood Decanter, paradoxically, turned out to be almost without blood and a tense atmosphere.
Popular title
The film with the name "Blood Moon" in the entire history of the world film industry has been released for hire. This is a horror film with elements of a thriller 1989 directed by Enzo Milioni, and an Australian thriller directed by Alec Mills in 1990, and an American action movie with elements of a thriller directed by Tony Leung Siu Hung in 1997, and the British horror western Jeremy Wooding 2014 release. But the most sinister among these is the film "Blood Moon" produced by Germany, which was created by Jesus Franco in 1981. The director of the picture became famous for its peculiar art-house works with an erotic background. On his account several successful works in the horror genre: "Dracula", "Oasis of Zombies", "Mansion of the Living Dead" and "White Goddess of Cannibals." His "Blood Moon" is an excellent colorful slasher. Very spectacular killings and an atmosphere of unaccountable horror raised the project to a fairly high level among other bloody films.
