GEF: extracurricular activities of primary school students

Since 2005, there have been rumors among teachers and parents of schoolchildren about new standards in education, which they were soon to adopt. 2010 was a turning point in this regard, when the new Federal State Educational Standards were introduced in almost all schools in Russia. Particular emphasis here is on extracurricular activities, which until then had been undeservedly deprived of attention.

As for the new FSES, extracurricular activities in them are quite important. This is largely due to the fact that this work is aimed at developing the personal qualities of the child, which is an integral part of the general education of the student.

It is necessary to describe in more detail the very concept of extracurricular activities. It so happened that parents, in the majority, consider it important that the children attend classes, and consider classroom hours, electives and other extracurricular activities as secondary. True, in recent years, the prestige of sports sections and aesthetic circles has greatly increased, but they are usually located in institutions of additional education. The school, before the introduction of GEF of the second generation, took little part in this side of the life of students, and it is here that the student can find much more opportunities and reveal a huge amount of his talents.

Currently, in order to help teachers, ready-made work programs are presented, the extracurricular activities of the GEF are given in some detail. Some educators prefer to develop additional programs that they will work on. Clock planning depends on the needs of the parents and the needs of the students themselves. Children attending continuing education institutions may continue to attend their circles. The school does not have the right to force a child to attend a particular extracurricular activity, but it may try to interest the child. And in this case, students will be able to find time for school extracurricular activities, and for visiting additional circles and sections located outside the school walls.

At the same time, the recommendations of the Federal State Educational Standard are given for teachers, extracurricular activities are highlighted in which in great detail. Class hours, matinees or just electives in some areas should take at least 10 hours of the working week (respectively, not to the detriment of basic subjects). Some parents are not able to take their children to an art school or sports section. In such cases, school circles can be very useful. So far, this applies only to younger students, but soon the standards of the second generation, extracurricular activities where it occupies an important place, will be applied to both middle and senior management.

It must be said that it is important to interest younger students so that they take an active part in the life of the school, both in school and after school hours. For this, classes can be introduced in such areas as computer science, local history, various technologies and others. These and other recommendations given by the Federal State Educational Standard, extracurricular activities of schoolchildren should be taken into account.

Many primary schoolchildren prefer to engage in environmental programs, which is very important today. In such classes, children can not only get acquainted with theoretical problems, but also learn to apply knowledge in practice. For example, clearing a school site of debris (and subsequently of any larger territory). Such an occupation can be combined with a guided tour, passing along talking about rare species of animals, plants, insects, etc.

So, in FSES extracurricular activities are recommended for the development of skills to apply the knowledge practically obtained in the classroom, as well as for the development of the abilities of schoolchildren, because it is the elementary school that lays the foundation for the subsequent successful education of the child.
