"Saiga MK-107" is the development of the famous Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant. Currently, weapons have civilian status. The primary purpose of the model is sports shooting. If desired, the Saiga MK-107 carbine can be used as a hunting weapon to track small game. The sample is often used in the domestic plan to protect the home.
Development history
How was the Saiga MK-107 carbine designed? The description of the sample characterizes it as a modification of an improved version of
the Kalashnikov assault rifle, developed in 1998. A prerequisite for the manufacture of this model was the need to switch to firing with small caliber cartridges, which allowed to significantly increase the accuracy of fire.
The specialists of the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant, who were entrusted with the development of weapons, made an attempt to introduce a rather complicated firearm scheme into the design. Despite the effectiveness of this decision, the top army leadership decided to abandon this option for financial reasons. As a result, designers were entrusted with making a cheaper alternative.
To create the Saiga MK-107 carbine, balanced automation was subsequently used and, along with the ability to fire in single series, a system was introduced that opened the way for firing in continuous bursts.
Despite the implementation of the tasks set for the developers, the Saiga MK-107 did not find proper use as a combat unit for arming army formations. A rather low demand for the model was observed both in the foreign and domestic markets.
In the end, the experts rather unexpectedly decided to reorient the release of the Saiga MK-107 carbine for civilian use. In particular, the target audience was to be athletes who spoke in shooting disciplines. Thanks to a change in the scheme of weapons, the latter has become cheaper and more affordable for a wide mass of consumers. The main advantage of the model was the minimal recoil during firing, which made it possible to accurately shoot at fixed targets with controlled βdeucesβ.
Automation
"Saiga MK-107" contains two gas pistons that are placed in a common cylinder and move towards each other. The piston, which is in the rear position, is connected by a rod to the bolt frame. After firing, the latter is retracted, and the front piston, connected to the bolt system by an elongated balancer, moves in the opposite direction.
The onward movement of the bolt frame and the balancer is due to the presence of a pair of gears that are placed in a statically fixed carriage and come into contact with the holes in the rod of the bolt frame.
The spring return action of the shutter is placed in a stamped receiver, slightly offset relative to the axis of the weapon to the left. The barrel is locked by turning the shutter several combat stops. Corresponding handles for performing the indicated action are located on two sides of the shutter frame.
Fuse
"Saiga Mk-107" has a fuse made in the form of a transverse button. The latter is located above the trigger box. Sample weapons differs
bolt delay. Compared with the same AK, it has a protruding store receiver.
Butt
"Saiga MK-107" is equipped with a telescopic butt. The use of such a solution opens up the possibility of adjusting the weapon length. Despite this, the model is quite impressive in weight.
"Saiga MK-107" - price
How much is a multi-shot carbine of domestic production? Much here depends on the configuration of the Saiga MK-107 sample. The average price on the domestic market is about 70,000-80,000 rubles.
Sights
The receiver cover is equipped with an integrated guide. The main advantage of this solution is its reliable fixation with the help of transverse pins in the back of the receiver. The device is suitable for the installation of various types of sights, both hunting and sniper.
"Saiga MK-107" - specifications
Self-loading sample differs in the following parameters:
- total length of the weapon - 980 mm;
- barrel length - 415 mm;
- magazine capacity - 10 rounds;
- caliber - 5.56x45 mm;
- weight - 4.5 kg.
Finally
"Saiga MK-107" is an excellent example of a small-caliber carbine of domestic production. The model is the only representative of semi-automatic weapons, which is intended for civilian use.
Thanks to the introduction of balanced automation, weapons will never slip out of the hands of an unprepared shooter. Therefore, it is an excellent tool for training novice shooters.
The model is equipped with a convenient folding butt, a set of Picatinny rails for mounting sights, a well-thought-out pistol grip.
The model is gradually reoriented to export. Recently, development begins to be in demand in the western market. In particular, users from countries where systems based on the Kalashnikov assault rifle enjoy authority are interested in the sample. The only unresolved issue is how affordable the export sample will be for domestic consumers.
