Russian Carlson: who voiced the legendary character

In Sweden, they say that it was not Astrid Lindgren who invented Carlson, but Karin, the daughter of this world-famous children's writer. She told her mother that when she becomes lonely, a little mischievous man flies into the room through the window, and if any of the adults suddenly appears, he quickly hides behind the picture. Thus was born the famous literary tandem - Kid and Carlson, who lives on the roof. After 12 years, the book was translated into Russian, and then almost immediately shot an animated film on it.

The famous Soviet director and animator Boris Stepantsev offered the children’s public two episodes made in the first part of the trilogy. Perhaps there would have been a third, but Stepantsev did not get her hands on him, since he was engaged in new projects. In the piggy bank of drawn stories, there was only a filmstrip entitled "Carlson is naughty again." Images of heroes were created by artist Anatoly Savchenko. This is the work of his hands - the big-eyed gullible Kid, the robbers, the monumental Freken Bock and, of course, the charming ugly Carlson. Who voiced your favorite characters?

Unique voice

People's Artist of Russia Vasily Livanov recalled how unexpectedly he had the chance to become the voice of the painted Carlson: the director, who strove to make the character's image expressive and dynamic, could not find an actor for this role. The real luminaries of the then scene tried on it - Alexey Gribov, Mikhail Yanshin, but there was no exact hit in the image. Livanov, who worked in a neighboring studio, accidentally saw a sketch of frames and caught the similarities between the drawn man with the motor and the good-natured director Grigory Roshal. The actor tried to spoil Roshal in the image of Carlson and was in the top ten. Even Astrid Lindgren, who, during a visit to the USSR, asked to introduce her to those who voiced Carlson in the cartoon, even liked her voice. He fell in love with the Soviet audience, from young to old.

All and Carlson

Who voiced the other characters of the famous cartoon? The kid spoke in the voice of Klara Rumyanova, the only actress who received the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR precisely for voice acting in the animation. Interestingly, her recognizable “childish” falsetto was once a low alt. In her youth, the girl seriously caught a cold and for some time only became hoarse. And again she spoke in her high, well-known voice. By the way, that incomparable timbre, as the legendary Lebanese Sherlock Holmes speaks, as well as the crocodile Gena, Barmaley, Boa constrictor, Gromoosek, Carlson (who voiced all these cartoon characters, it is not necessary to specify) also appeared as a result of a cold. On the set in 1959, the actor broke his voice, because the recording was not carried out in a warm studio, but on the street in the conditions of wind and a forty-degree cold.

In Taganrog, near the house where Faina Ranevskaya was born, there is a cafe called "Freken Bok". The great actress was also among those who immortalized the cartoon "Carlson", who voiced the proud and despotic "Teacher".

“He flew away, but he promised to return!”

Forty years later, Russian viewers again met with a cheerful hero in a Swedish full-length cartoon. This time, the actor Sergey Bezrukov became the one who voiced Carlson. Many moviegoers believe that this version of the book was much weaker than the previous, Soviet one. The hero lost that elusive charm that gave meaning to all his mischief, and turned out to be just greedy, evil and selfish. Is it because in Carlson, as Astrid Lindgren herself noted, having traveled to Russia, “there is something Russian,” and therefore, only Russian understandable to the end?
