Winter balancing fishing is becoming more and more popular every year. She is an active form of fishing. The balance for winter fishing is provided mainly for three main categories of fish - perch, pike and pike perch.
Description
This snap is a bait that resembles a small fish in shape (and sometimes in color). In the tail and the head of the balancer there are two single hooks soldered with a sting up. Bottom and top of the "fish" are two loops: the top is needed to attach the fishing line, the bottom is needed for an additional tee.
It is good if the balancer for winter fishing is equipped with a red-black or red-yellow fly. An obligatory component of this bait is a stabilizer located in its βtailβ part. It is thanks to this addition that a diverse game is provided.
general information
The balance for winter fishing is not only of different sizes, but also weights. And, as a result, the game of the bait changes depending on these parameters. For example, a wide and hard plastic tail gives quickness and scope, narrower and thinner, on the contrary, reduces the amplitude of oscillations. Perch balancers for winter fishing are up to five (and gritty and pike - up to ten) centimeters in weight with a weight of thirty grams.
The colors of these lures are diverse: from natural, similar to a natural fish, and to bright acid. Which balancer is better for winter fishing is for the fisherman to decide: after all, there are no such conditions in the pond that all baits work equally well. The most catchy of them have to be selected by trial and error. Therefore, experienced fishers prefer to have at hand several different options, including home-made balancers for winter fishing, so that during fishing you can use exactly those with which you can get a good "crop".
Varieties
Balancers, which are found on the shelves of specialized stores, regardless of the manufacturer, have three design characteristics. This is, firstly, metal models having plastic wings in the tail. In addition, there are varieties with a fur brush. And finally, the new balancers for winter fishing - silicone, which appeared recently. There are also combinations of wings with a woolen tail, but these are rather derived designs.
DIY winter fishing balance
Bait, which is sold in specialized stores, of course, are of high quality performance. They are made of expensive natural materials using quality fittings.
For example, hooks with tees, used in almost every model, are only branded. The balance for winter fishing, bought in the store, is perfectly tuned and starts from the first throw.
However, many are not satisfied with their game, so they prefer to finish, or even make pike or perch baits on their own, bringing them to the desired design. According to the masters, only the balancer for winter fishing, modified with its own hands, has an impeccable game and makes even sleepy prey attack.
How to make a bait
Many anglers know firsthand about the catchability of balancers on the first ice. The spinners successfully catch on this bait not only perches, but also pike, zander and other predators. But if fishing takes place in locked places, then it can not do without losses. Therefore, in the arsenal of the fisherman should be about a dozen cool balancers. However, their current value is somewhat scary. And not all models have the game that is needed. That's why many people prefer to have a do-it-yourself balance for winter fishing.
To do this, you will need to acquire gypsum, a piece of stainless wire with a diameter of 0.5 to 0.7 millimeters, lead and a pair of hooks that will correspond to the dimensions of the future bait.
Preparation method
First of all, you need a "donor". It can become a balancer for winter fishing for perch, purchased in a store and has already managed to recommend itself well. It will need to be disassembled by disconnecting the lower hook and carefully removing the plastic tail, trying not to break.
Balancers from eminent manufacturers, which have excellent catchability and have been used on water bodies more than once, but which have one significant drawback - high price, can be used as an experimental sample. Therefore, they must be "propagated." Making balancers for winter fishing should begin with the preparation of the body of the future bait. The simplest option will be made using a needle file from a piece of lead.
Then, a mold is made of gypsum, which is diluted to the consistency of thick sour cream and poured into a container prepared in advance. If homemade balancers for winter fishing are supposed to be made small, then for this purpose you can use an ordinary matchbox. After pouring into the form of gypsum, the body of the future bait is neatly laid there and is half drowned. In this case, you must first coat the disc with solid oil so that it does not stick.
After the mold has dried on one side, the future balance for winter fishing is removed, and the surface is leveled. Then centering recesses are made. After that, the balancer is put back into shape.
The entire surface and the bait itself need to be coated with solid oil and cast with gypsum so that the body is inside. Lubrication will not allow the halves to stick together.
Final stage
After waiting for the gypsum to dry, you need to level the mold on the sides with a knife and take it into two halves. Then, using small drills, a casting hole and a hole are made for air to escape.
After that, the mold is prepared for filling. This is done as follows: slowly hooks with eyelets from wire are stacked. To begin with, the form should be well warmed up, for which you need to pour lead several times into empty forms. After this, hooks and loops must be laid in pre-prepared grooves. Then the mold is assembled and direct casting of the future bait begins.
Giving Appearance
This is followed by a painting step. At this stage, anglers use a variety of paints, including oil. After that, the tail of the balancer is made. According to experienced bailers who have made more than one bait with their own hands, the best tail is obtained from an ordinary plastic bottle. A simple contour is cut out of it with the help of scissors. The tail is glued using superglue, and then in the area of ββthe hook is filled with epoxy for reliability.
Through experimentation
This is not to say that the manufacture of balancers for winter fishing ends here. It is not enough to cast the body and set the hooks. There is another phase - the testing process. Experienced craftsmen make several different forms of balancers with different suspension points, different shapes, the angle of the tail bend, etc. During the tests that many people carry out at home in an ordinary bath, most of the lures made can be rejected. But of the remaining ones, it will be possible to choose several that will meet all the requirements.
Snap Features
The correct game of the balancer depends, first of all, on a well-made suspension, the point of which should be located approximately in the middle of the body and in the center of its gravity. The classic position of the bait in the air is as follows: the stabilizer should be lowered a little down, and the head raised.
In water, a correctly made balancer will be already horizontal. If the bait immediately, while still in the air, takes a direction parallel to the surface of the water, then there is no need to rush to correct the error in the suspension. It is likely that the submerged balancer will get a normal position.
But even if in water he will tend to the bottom or top, then his game may be unstable. In this case, it will be necessary to take measures to correct the error. The simplest equipment option to change alignment is to wind a soft wire on one side or another of the balancer. Almost always this is enough for the error to be fixed and the game to resume.
Check
In order to find out for sure how the bait will behave in a reservoir, it is necessary to place it in a volumetric container with water or conduct test test leads directly to the place of fishing. This can be a non-freezing open pond, a river, etc. After balancing with a fishing rod, the balancer must swim away from the vertical line, then returning to the starting point.
The entire trajectory, if you look at it through the transparent ice from above, will resemble movement along the G8. But more often, the bait goes in uneven semicircles, and this is also normal. The main thing you need to pay attention to is the lack of a primitive rise up and the same dumping to the bottom. This most often happens if the balance bar for winter fishing is suspended incorrectly or the rise of the fishing rod is too sluggish and smooth.
Some nuances
These lures can be both fast and slow. It all depends on the characteristics of the material from which the tail is made. If the balance bar is a plastic or metal stabilizer, then its speed will be high. Tails made of synthetic fibers or animal hair, as a rule, give this bait a smooth game, and therefore it is considered slow.
In addition, various equipment (plastic droplets on a suspended tee, etc.) can slow down the movement somewhat. Especially tangibly the game of balancers is influenced by various tufts of wool or thread. And if such equipment on the bait is also too large, then horizontal sailing is significantly reduced. This, in turn, negatively affects the game.
The best balancers for winter fishing are those on which the tee is suspended on a chain, and not on a winding ring. In addition to the correct game, such equipment gives the bait an additional game from the movement of the hook with a bright drop. And this is especially noticeable if the chain is made of silver.
