Jacob falls in love with the daughter of the local cobbler Rachel. And a year later they get married. However, in Switzerland, Rachel does not want to live. Therefore, the young spouses go to Sosnovka, where a young man who grew up in luxury is forced to adapt, working in a shoe shop, then in a butcher's shop. Most of the film is dedicated to peaceful life, in which, however, there are also many sorrows.

Only Rachel remains. A woman calls for an uprising in the ghetto and rescues her grandchildren by sending them to a neighboring village.
Rachel also perishes. But the burial place remains unknown. In Sosnovka, decades after the end of the war, a legend still lives, according to which, somewhere near the forest belt, its image appears from time to time. To see him is a sign of grace for lovers.
