Today it is no longer possible to imagine the absence in Russian cuisine of such a product as potatoes. Appearing recently in Russia by historical standards, it rightfully took second place after bread, both in importance and in demand among Russian consumers.
The mere fact that the main crop of this root crop is grown not on farm or state farm fields, but on individual farms, shows how important this product is for humans. The active use of potatoes as food stimulates grandiose breeding discoveries. But, despite the appearance of all new varieties, many already demanded and loved by many are already proven. That's what Vineta is - a potato variety bred more than a quarter century ago. It will be discussed in this article.
A bit of history
The product of the famous German selection, the Vineta variety, is a canteen, which means successfully overcoming a number of different laboratory and field studies in the development process and complying with the internationally accepted standard of requirements. Note that when creating the Vineta variety, a huge selection work was really carried out. The most valuable qualities inherent in an ideal product are concentrated in this potato culture. The Vineta potato variety , the photo and description of which is presented in the publication, is unique and at the same time unpretentious.
In Russia, it was cultivated only from the beginning of the two thousandth, but during this time, thanks to its high taste and ease of care, the variety became extremely popular and even gained fans who prefer dishes from it to all other varieties of potatoes. Since 2002, the culture has been included in the State Register of Varietal Plants in Russia.
Potatoes, Vineta grade: description
The tubers of the plant with a flesh of a characteristic cream or yellow color are enclosed in a peel only a tone darker and covered with a slightly noticeable delicate mesh. The shape of the root crops is round-oval, slightly oblong. The average weight of tubers varies from 70 to 95 g, the maximum weight of the tuber reaches 130-140 g. Breeders are especially proud of the small, almost invisible eyes, and in addition, the absence of flaws both outside and inside the tuber. They do not have cracks, browning or any other defects. The content of starchy substances is 13-15%.
Vineta is a potato variety that forms an erect, sprawling large bush reaching 0.7 meters. The leaves are light green with a slight undulation on the edge. The flowers are small, with traditionally white corollas. A distinctive feature is the friendly formation of almost one-dimensional tubers. On one bush they form 10-12 pieces. The yield of marketable root crops is very high and reaches 97%.
Variety Characteristics
Vineta - a potato variety of early ripening. He has a whole list of advantages, such as:
• precocity - the growing season is 70-75 days from the moment of planting, but 45-50 days after germination, a young crop is possible;
• high productivity - Vineta gives stably-rich crops; up to 400 centners are harvested per hectare;
• excellent drought tolerance, which has already been appreciated by vegetable growers in the Central Asian regions, where seasonal rains do not spoil vegetable growers;
• excellent taste;
• resistance to mechanical damage;
• good keeping quality, reaching 90%, which the early species rarely boast of.
We pay special attention to the taste characteristics of the variety. On a five-point scale, the taste of this vegetable reaches an estimate of 4.3 points, which is considered very high. The creamy yellow pulp of Vineta is famous for not changing color even after heat treatment, and fried slices do not crumble and hold their shape well. When cooking, average tuber friability is observed. The most common uses for this potato are deep-frying and frying.
Disease resistance
One of the significant advantages of this variety is the enviable resistance to traditional species diseases and a high level of resistance to many pests that complicate the cultivation of nightshade crops.
So, Vineta is a variety of potatoes that are avoided by such adversities as potato golden nematode, wrinkled and banded mosaic, black leg, cancer, brown spotting, viral twisting of leaves, etc. Such immunity to various pathogens makes it easier for growers to take care of the cultivated crop.
The only exception is late blight - a serious disease that can kill many species from the nightshade family. Vineta is moderately susceptible to this disease.
Care
Potatoes - a variety of Vineta, the reviews of experienced vegetable growers about which are united by a common opinion that it is really promising - has significant advantages and does not require additional protective treatments, is unpretentious and drought tolerant.
The main care measures are weed removal and soil loosening. As a rule, hilling is carried out twice before flowering potatoes: the first time after the hatching sprouts reach 15-20 cm, and the second after 1.5-2 weeks after the first. Hilling is a highly effective procedure that increases soil aeration and increases air access to root crops. Throughout the growing season, ridges with planted potatoes must be weeded, removing weed grass and fragments of its roots.
Grade Features
A characteristic feature of Vineta is independence from the agrotechnical and climatic conditions of the area.
This vegetable shows the same stable high yield on all types of soils, but it must be borne in mind that the excess nitrogen in them does not affect the properties of potatoes in the best way: the development and ripening of tubers slows down, and the preservation of the crop, i.e., keeping quality is significantly reduced.
So, Vineta is a potato variety (see photo in the review), which is close to ideal, not prone to various viral and infectious diseases and has a high taste product.
