Its development can be divided into two very important periods: pre-war and post-war (World War II).
Germany automotive industry
According to the data for 2012, machine building is the undisputed leader among the manufacturing sectors of the state. The leading position is occupied by the automotive industry in Germany. This industry is one of the subjects of national pride of the Germans. The largest automotive concerns are located in this country: Opel, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Volkswagen. They offer consumers machines that are in demand all over the world. If a person buys a car assembled in Germany, a priori there is no doubt about its quality. Such cars are accurate and reliable. German industry maintains the quality of its brands at the highest level.
In addition to the automotive industry, other segments of the industry have very high rates: water, rail. Much attention is paid to the development of a network of motorways and freeways. This segment, albeit indirectly, also belongs to the transport industry.
German food industry
The most developed segments in this industry are winemaking and brewing. The latter deserves special attention. Germany has long been famous for its beer. About four thousand varieties of this drink are made on the territory of this state. The most interesting thing is that small private breweries are available even in small towns, and sometimes in large towns. About a third of the beer produced is exported.
However, from the 2000s, the traditional tastes of the Germans began to change. Instead of classic beer, locals began to prefer wine more and more. This led to the development of the wine industry. The Moselle and Rhine wines produced by German industry are known far beyond the borders of the country.
Other industries
In addition to the above industries, special attention deserves the production of industrial equipment, electronics, computers and machine tools.
Germany has long been famous for its products. Although now its volume in the market has declined (global trend), however, German manufacturing technology is considered one of the best. In Germany, the chemical industry is also developed. A special place in this industry is occupied by the production of plastics and paints and varnishes.
The country also has developed metallurgy, which mainly uses imported raw materials for work. Of their materials, only scrap metal is used for smelting. Gradually, Germany in this industry turned into an importer, although it used to supply rolled products to the world market. During the past global crisis, the state retained its economic and production positions, as well as a reputation as a good and very reliable partner.
