Michelangelo's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle is one of the comic book heroes about mutant turtles living in the sewers of New York. In the 90s, the image became popular among children and adolescents thanks to the animated series, and most recently, the Paramount Pictures film company gave a new life to the story of fearless green-skinned warriors with a shell behind their backs. So how is Michelangelo different from his comrades?
Michelangelo Costume - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
All ninja turtles look almost the same. They can only be distinguished by the type of weapon and the color of the blindfold. Michelangelo's ninja turtle, named after the great sculptor and architect, wears an orange mask on his face. What else is this hero wearing?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Michelangelo's Weapons
It is not known why the creator of the turtles gave them the names of the creators of the Renaissance. For example, Michelangelo - the hero of comics - has absolutely nothing to do with art, but he masterfully owns such weapons as the nunchucks.
Nunchucks came up in the East. They are two sticks connected by a chain. This is a fairly powerful weapon, capable of delivering strong blows, crushing objects, wresting weapons from hands and strangling the enemy. It is almost impossible to take away the nunchucks if the fighter constantly makes deft interceptions.
Michelangelo's character
Michelangelo's ninja turtle, according to the comics, is the most sociable, laid-back and frivolous of the four.
Michelangelo easily goes through life. Without hesitation, changes work. Most of all in comics and films, the fact that Michelangelo worked as a children's animator for some time was discussed. In this regard, his brothers often made fun of him, calling him Santa Turtle.
Michelangelo least of all communicates with Leonardo. With Raphael, he often organizes joint training, although for a long time he canβt be in the same room with him: a turtle in an orange bandage considers his brother a real bore.
But with Donatello Michelangelo has a strong friendship. First of all, he respects a turtle in a purple bandage for a sense of humor. Often this couple provokes comic situations.
As for the age of Michelangelo, it is known that he was born first, and he also spoke first from the whole company. However, Mikey, as his friends call him, is by no means a leader by nature. On the contrary, he has to be constantly watched during complex reconnaissance operations and battles.
History of creation
Michelangelo's first ninja turtle was first painted by Kevin Eastman in 1984. It was generally the first ninja turtle ever painted. The mutant with the nunchucks in his hands impressed the publisher Mirage Studios, so it was decided to release a series of comics in which the main characters would be armed reptiles.
However, initially they wanted to name the tortoise in the orange bandana Leonardo. A little later, Peter Laird drew the same character, but with katanas in his hands. And he was given the name Leonardo, leaving Michelangelo the nunchucks.
Michelangelo's first appearance in film and television
Comic books about tortoise-fighters were so popular among children and teenagers that the first animated series was released in 1987. CBS and NBC simultaneously acquired the rights to broadcast the film. In the first cartoon about the ninja turtles, Mikey appears before the audience as a very frivolous character who constantly gets into ridiculous situations.
In 1990, an independent adaptation of the comic book about turtles, filmed by Steve Barron, was released. This picture made a splash: New Line Cinema earned $ 200 million from the comic book story by investing just 13 million in the film.
According to the plot of the Barron movie, Donatello, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Michelangelo and other guys from the team originally lived in the sewers of New York and were ordinary animals. But then by accident, a flask with the latest radioactive substance fell into the place where they lived. Having been exposed to radiation, Michelangelo and his other brothers turned into humanoid turtles. Soon they had a teacher - the same mutant, Sensei Splinter. After training, the ninja turtles entered the battle with the villain Schroeder and defeated him.
In the 1990 film adaptation, Splinter clearly in one of the monologues indicates that Mikey is the oldest turtle in the team.
Cartoon 2003-2009
In 2003, an updated version of the cartoon "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was released. This topic was still interesting for children, so the project lasted six years and a total of 7 seasons were released.
Mikey in this version of the comics sometimes seems narcissistic and cocky. Seeking fame, a turtle in an orange bandana sets off for multiverse sports in martial arts. And he wins in them, despite the fact that he has to compete with Raphael for the sake of winning.
Michelangelo often says nonsense, and the brothers have to besiege him. He also loves superhero comics and jokingly calls himself "The Turtle-Titan."
