Everyone needs to know what emergency care should be provided for passing out, because this condition is not uncommon and can happen to any person. In this article we will try to figure out what constitutes a swoon, how to avoid it and how to help if this condition occurs.
Emergency help with fainting may not be necessary if we know the symptoms of the onset of this condition and if they occur in nearby people or in ourselves we will take the necessary measures in time. So, the onset of fainting is characterized by the following symptoms:
- sharp dizziness, accompanied by blurred gaze and ringing in the ears;
- An attack of nausea and lack of air ;
- weak pulse;
- weakness;
- blanching of the skin;
- rare, intermittent breathing;
- a sharp decrease in blood pressure;
- numbness of the limbs.
If you experience several of these symptoms, or if someone near you is feeling a loss of consciousness, you should try to avoid fainting. In order for you not to need emergency care for fainting, you must follow these steps:
- Without losing a second, take a horizontal position so that the legs are raised above the head. Do not waste time looking for a suitable place, go to the place where you feel bad.
- Start breathing deeply to increase blood circulation: 5 seconds for each breath.
- Try not to worry, as the fear that has arisen can cause spasm of the cerebral arteries, which will lead to increased oxygen starvation.
- Perform several exercises that will improve blood flow to the brain and increase blood pressure:
- at the same time straining the abdominal muscles and compressing the hips, cross the ankles;
- joining fingers together in the lock, try to spread your arms apart. In this case, it is necessary to strain the muscles of the hands;
- straining the muscles of the press and hips, clench your hands into fists.
If, nevertheless, the person near you has lost consciousness, then he needs urgent help with fainting. The duty of everyone is to perform the following actions:
- First of all, it is necessary to call an ambulance so that the unconscious is provided with first aid in case of fainting. Immediately after this, proceed to the provision of first aid.
- In no case do not try to raise the patient, but lay him in a horizontal position so that the head is below the knees. This will improve blood flow to the brain. If you do not have such an opportunity, then seat the patient so that his head is lowered between his knees.
- If the unconscious is in a supine position, be sure to ensure that his head is turned to one side. This pose will prevent the retraction of the tongue.
- Unfasten the belt and collar of the patient so that nothing prevents the penetration of air into the lungs.
- Spray cold water on the unconscious's face.
- Bring cotton wool to the patientโs nose, previously moistened with ammonia, vinegar, or cologne.
