early years
Joe Pasternak was born on September 19, 1901 in the small town of the then Austro-Hungarian Empire. His father was an ordinary clerk, and Joe was the eleventh child in the family. In the twenties, the guy left to seek his fate in the United States of America and stayed with his uncle in Philadelphia. The boy worked in the factory and tried himself in other crafts, even attended acting classes in New York.
Joe Pasternak began his professional career working as a courier at Paramount studio. Having shown himself on the good side, the curious young man was promoted to an assistant director in the work on the films The Phantom of the Opera and This is an Old Army Game.
A real start for Joe Pasternak is considered an offer from Universal Pictures to work as a producer for European films. Then the young man became known to the world thanks to the paintings of Triumph of Love, Of Life and Death, One Hour of Happiness, etc. Upon Hitler and the Nazis coming to power, the man moved to Hungary, where he managed to shoot several films, and later returned to the United States.
Maturity and the dawn of excellence
Immediately upon arrival, Joe was asked to sign a contract with Universal Studios. This saved the company from bankruptcy in the literal sense. Joseph managed to promote the beautiful musical Three Cute Girls. An interesting fact is that he was an avid of talent and noticed two gifted girls with wonderful voices - Dinu Durbin and Gloria Jean.

The man believed and clearly saw his own success, when the rest did not even suspect such ambitions. After spending some time in the movie studio, Joe decided to leave due to differences of opinion with the governing bodies.
1941 was marked by the transition to the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio. In a new place, he continued to engage in musicals and musical comedies. Dizzying success awaited his film The Great Caruso. He also shot romantic melodramas without emphasis on the musical accompaniment of Her Highness and the Bellboy and No Leave, No Love. After working with MGM for about 14 years, producer Joe Pasternak switched to 20 th Century Fox, where he managed to make only one film, The Sweet Ride.
For his activities, the producer was awarded two Oscars, three Golden Globes. On the Hollywood Walk of Fame, you can meet his name star.
Personal life
Between filming, the young man loved to cook and treat his colleagues with various dishes. In honor of his hobby, Joe Pasternak even released a good cookbook with Cooking with Love and Paprika.
Despite a successful career, Joe was also an excellent family man. So, with a wife named Dorothy Darrell, the man lived until the end of his life. And the three sons, who were brought up in a warm atmosphere of creativity and mutual understanding, found their own way. Michael is known as a virtuoso radio jockey; Jeff is a playwright and songwriter. Peter also found himself in the music industry.
The death caught the talented Joseph a few days before the ninetieth anniversary - September 13, 1991. Complications of Parkinsonβs disease brought the fateful date closer. Only now, Joe Pasternak has stayed here forever, thanks to great films.
