Today, vaccination is the most widely used means of specific prophylaxis of certain diseases. The successful use of attenuated antibodies of infectious agents has allowed us to talk about the vaccine control of some diseases. Some of them were completely eradicated from the modern list of emerging ailments of an infectious nature.
Many ordinary people argue about the need for vaccination, question its effectiveness and are trying in every possible way to slander the drugs used. However, every educated doctor knows and understands the need for vaccination at the present stage.
Currently, there is a whole list of infections indicating the exact time of vaccination and a description of all sorts of options and deviations - a preventive vaccination schedule. Today, the country has introduced a mandatory calendar of such events, which provides for the regulation of the introduction of vaccines for a certain list of infections. All of them included in the calendar of mandatory preventive vaccinations are vaccine-controlled. This means that vaccination controls the course of infectious diseases at a sporadic level, preventing the formation of large outbreaks.
Qualitatively and on time immunization carried out guarantees a reduction in the incidence of this pathogen. Speaking about this process, it is worth mentioning one of the most commonly used vaccine preparations - DTP (ADS and one of its variants - ADS-M).
It is used to prevent pertussis, tetanus and diphtheria. ADS is used to vaccinate against the causative agents of the last two infections. If it is necessary to vaccinate a patient against a single infection, isolated (mono) vaccines are used.
ADS M toxoid is a mixture of tetanus and diphtheria toxoids with a reduced (compared to ADS) amount of antigens. “M” means - low-mimic, which indicates a reduced content of antigens in the preparation. The amount of toxoid in the drug is determined by the content of flocculating units. Only one milliliter of adsm contains ten such units, nine of which are tetanus toxoid and one is diphtheria. Meriolate with a concentration of 0.01% is used as a preservative.
The ADS M vaccine is given to children aged six, adolescents and adults. The vaccine is administered in an amount of 0.5 milliliters subcutaneously or intramuscularly. This drug is used according to the calendar of preventive vaccinations for revaccination at the age of seven and sixteen years, then every ten years to sixty-six years of age.
When is the ADS M vaccine given?
A low-immune vaccine is used (with a reduced content of toxoids) in the case when the body of the vaccinee is weakened for one reason or another. The introduction of ADS with a normal antibody content in this case can independently cause the disease. In addition, the basis for the use of a low-dose vaccine preparation is a short time interval between the use of drugs. So for urgent immunization of an unvaccinated adult, they are immunized three times with vaccine administration intervals of three months.
There are a number of cases where the introduction of ADS M is justified; all of them are described in the medical documentation on the procedure for conducting preventive vaccination.
Thus, vaccination at the present stage of development of medicine is an excellent opportunity to contain the outbreaks of infectious diseases, where ADS M has established itself as a high-quality and effective drug to prevent the development of diphtheria and tetanus.
