Career of Costa Rican football player Brian Ruiz

Brian Ruiz is a soccer player from Costa Rica who is now playing for Portuguese Sporting. He is already 31 years old, so his best times are behind him - he reached the peak of his career during the game for Fulham. The main position of Brian Ruiz is the left winger, but he can play on the entire front of the attack, that is, both the right winger and the central attacking midfielder.

Carier start

The birthplace of Brian Ruiz is Costa Rica, where he began to get involved in football, joining the academy of the club Alajuelens. There he spent his entire youth, at the age of 18, having signed a professional contract with the club. It was 2003, and the Costa Rican FC immediately introduced young talent into the main team. For three years, Ruiz has grown significantly, having received an impressive amount of playing practice - he played 68 matches, scoring 25 goals in them. Naturally, such appearances attracted the attention of European scouts, and in the summer of 2006 the Belgian Ghent signed the young talent Brian Ruiz. Thus began his European adventures, where he managed to change more than one club and add many more trophies to the Costa Rican title and victory in the North American Cup.

Relocation to Europe

In Genet, Ruiz Brian immediately got a seat at the base and began to demonstrate that he was not afraid of change. In the three years he spent in a new place, the winger appeared on the field 79 times, scoring 26 goals. Naturally, he could not remain at this level forever, especially given the fact that he constantly added as a game. Therefore, in 2009, for five and a half million euros, it was signed by the Dutch Twente, where the Costa Rican finally blossomed.

Going to Twente

Ruiz spent only two seasons in the Dutch club, but during this time managed to become a local star. He played 65 matches, scoring as many as 35 goals in them, becoming one of the most important factors for the fact that in 2010 Twente won the Dutch Championship, and in 2011 the Dutch Cup. And in 2011, the English “Fulham” laid out twelve million euros for the player, opening Brian the way to the top championship.

Peak at Fulham

It was in the English club that Ruiz was able to reach its peak. Unfortunately, he did not win trophies there, since the English championship was much higher in level than all that he had previously played in, and Fulham was far from a leading club. There, the Costa Rican spent two and a half years, showing an incredible game, but gradually began to turn in and in the winter of 2014 was leased for six months to PSV. There he played 14 matches, scoring five goals, after which he returned to Fulham. There he spent another year, bringing his statistics for the team to 97 matches and 12 goals, and went to the Portuguese Sporting, which paid him only a half million euros.

Game for Sporting

In Sporting, Ruiz has spent one season so far, in which he played in 35 matches and scored 8 goals, winning only the Portuguese Super Cup. This season, he entered the field already in 9 matches, scoring 2 goals and giving four assists.
