One way or another, we use the word "torture" in our vocabulary. And not always thinking about its true meaning.
Torture is a word with a frightening meaning. It is enough to look back into the past, and we will see what it is like.
In order not to use the words in vain, we will describe in the material what torture is. And why people with mental disabilities love them so much.
Definition
Torture is the infliction of physical, psychological or combined suffering. The main goal is to get the necessary information from a person. Less commonly, torture is used by persons with mental disabilities. In this case, they are produced to satisfy their sadistic needs.
Where did it all come from?
As you know, torture is the most terrible murder weapon of antiquity. In ancient Greece, Rome and China, executioners were still those inventors. It was there that the terrifying instruments of torture were invented, which in modern man cause trembling.
Middle Ages
Quite a lot is known about torture in this period of time. Especially at the time of the "witch hunt." Poor women who were not involved in witchcraft were forced to confess to unclean spirits.
It is not known what is worse: torture with the help of special devices or "good" mockery. There was even such a method: a woman was tied to a stone around her neck and thrown into the river. Swam out - she's a witch. Drowned - was innocent. Although it seems the least of torture. Rather, to be executed. But this event was characterized precisely as "torture".
When was canceled?
Gradually, people began to abolish torture. It all began in England, and ended in Russia. The cancellation period is from 1700 to 1800. This is the official version, of course.
If you look back at the Soviet Union, you can find out a lot of interesting things. In the most honest and fair country, such torture took place within the walls of the NKVD that the most notorious executioners of antiquity did not dream. In their sophistication, they surpassed all the tools invented in quite distant times.
Goals
As a rule, terrible torture was carried out to obtain any information. And often itโs not at all necessary that it be true. The main thing is to get, and everything else is secondary.
Returning to the times of the Soviet Union, when in the mid-1930s, the priests and people related to the church were tortured in the NKVD, the main goal was to โknock outโ recognition from a person. In the case of priests, they should have said that they were campaigning to undermine the authority of the current government.
Of course, that recognition was knocked out in the literal sense of the word. If a person did not say what he wanted, torture became more sophisticated. Archimandrite John (Krestyankin), who was in the camps for faith, recalls his namesake tormentor, investigator Ivan Mikhailovich. He promised that the defendant Krestyankin will remember him for life. And the father remembered. And how could it be otherwise if he broke all the fingers of a man. The hands remained crippled. Although at that time official torture was canceled.
Psychological distortions
Torture (the worst) was not carried out in ancient times. And not within the walls of the NKVD. And not even in modern times. People with psychological disabilities are torturing their victims most painfully.
If the main purpose of torture is to obtain the necessary information, then in this case it is different. Obtaining moral or sexual satisfaction.
Reading an interview with the most terrible maniacs of all time, you always come across this statement of fact. Inhumans calmly say that they tortured their victims for several hours or days, until they could resist. And looking at their suffering, they received simply crazy pleasure.
Really crazy. Because in ordinary people, all these descriptions of torture cause a feeling of horror. Only a person with mental disabilities is able to enjoy the pain of others.
Types of torture tools in the Middle Ages
We will not provide photos of torture in full detail. This is too creepy sight. Let's talk about some of the tools used in antiquity for the implementation of nightmarish actions.
- "Heretic's fork." The device was a copper two-prong. Attached to the neck of the martyr. The main horror of torture was that a person was dying from blood poisoning. That is, slowly and painfully. The fork did not hurt any vital arteries.
- "Pear". Another most vile weapon. The essence of this torture is the unbearable pain that was inflicted on a person. "Pear" was tortured by both men and women. Its essence is that the object was inserted into the genitals of a woman, or in the anus of a man. And with the help of a special lever, it was revealed inside. If we consider that the disclosure was a breakdown of the "pear" into slices fastened together, it becomes obvious what kind of torment a person experienced.
- "Cage with rats." Another monstrous torture. The man was stripped to the waist, laid on his back, and tied. A cage with rats was placed on his stomach. It opened below, and coals were lit upstairs. The heat began to act, frightened animals were looking for a way out. To save themselves, they gnawed at the human body.

- "Iron Maiden". Sarcophagus with spikes. Moreover, the spikes were located so that they could not touch important organs when pressed. The martyr was placed inside the sarcophagus and closed. Thorns pierced the flesh. Such torture could last several days. As soon as a person lost strength, he lost consciousness. And at the same moment he fell on the thorns, piercing the body through and through.
- "The cap of a camel." Behind the sweet name lies inhuman torture. The martyr was shaved off his head. After that, the skin of a freshly refreshed camel was pulled on it. And they were taken to wastelands under the scorching sun. Under the rays, the skin of a camel wrinkled and pulled together, tightly clutching a man's head, squeezing it. Hair could not grow through the "hat". They began to grow inward. It was enough five days for a man to die in terrible torment.
Torment in the East
If you think that the instruments of torture described above are the worst thing that could be, then you are mistaken.
Physical pain is not always as frightening as psychological pressure. The most terrible tortures are associated with the destruction of the human psyche, sleep deprivation and a blow to water. They were invented in the East.
- "Water drop". The executioners planted the victim in a chair. Well tied so that the tortured person could not move. A large stone was attached from above so that it was located above the head of the martyr. From this stone, water fell in small droplets. And droplets landed on the head of the tortured. Three days later, the man went crazy.
- "Sleep deprivation." Another very cruel torture. The torturers beat the offender with a whip when he tried to sleep. Five to seven days after such mockery, the martyr went insane or died.
- "Turning into a pig." Torture is not only physical or psychological violence, but also combined. Like savagery called "turning into a pig." Tortured hands were cut off at the elbow and legs at the knee. They cut out their tongue, blinded them, stunned them. And in this form, he lived out the rest of his days in a stable with pigs.
The worst torture
In fact, they are all monstrous in their cruelty. And yet, the most vile woman invented. No matter how wildly this sounds, the Persian Queen Parisatida became her โmotherโ.
She ordered the body of the tormented to be pushed between two wooden troughs. Outside, leave only your head and spread it with milk and honey. This mixture attracted the attention of midges, which immediately stuck around a person. This bloodthirsty woman was not enough. She gave the order to force-feed the martyr so that he would have diarrhea. As a result, worms wound up in closed troughs that ate a person alive.
Of course, one can attribute such atrocity to the fact that the executed by this method killed the tsarinaโs son. And yet, this is a very heinous and terrible punishment. The man died for almost 3 weeks.
Conclusion
We found out that torture is a physical and moral mockery of a person. His main goal is to obtain the necessary information from the martyr. Less commonly, torture is used to satisfy the sadistic needs of the tormentor.
