What river is Perm on? Large and small watercourses of the region

What river is Perm on? The city is located on both sides of the river. Kama - the main watercourse of the Western Urals, the length from the source to the mouth of which is 1805 km. The basin of the water main includes 73718 large and small rivers. The vast majority does not exceed 10 km in length.

Perm River

Currently, the bulk of the metropolis is located on both banks of two reservoirs: Votkinsk and Kamsk. The main part of the regional center stands on the first of them, and the Ordzhonikidze district - on the second. The question, on which river Perm stands, has only one answer - on Kama. 57.2 km 2 of reservoirs and 3.2 km 2 of other water bodies (streams, rivers, ponds, etc.) fell into the city limits. If we summarize the area of โ€‹โ€‹water surfaces, it turns out that they are located in the city of Perm, 60.4 km 2 .

Data obtained by the Perm Institute "Giprovodkhoz". The work was carried out to protect the water area from the construction of buildings and industrial facilities, as well as to control water protection zones around small rivers. It is also forbidden to erect any structures.

To find out which river flows in Perm is not difficult. You just need to look at the map of Russia and find the Volga tributary, on which the regional capital stands.

Small rivers in the city

Kama is not the only river in Perm. In the regional capital there is a huge number of small watercourses, the length of which does not exceed 200 km. At the end of the 20th century, work was carried out with detailed maps of the area. On a large scale, the employees of the Giprovodkhoz Institute counted over 300 streams and small rivers. Most of them today are in whole or in some places hidden in the collectors. The central district of Perm is built between the small rivers Egoshikha and Danilikha.

Hydrologists classify small rivers of the regional capital as very small rivers. The most famous among them: Motovilikha, Yazovaya, Egoshikha, Willow, Danilikha. The length of these rivulets is no more than 10 km, and the width is from 2 to 3 m. The tributaries of these reservoirs have even more modest parameters. The beds of many of them were transferred to collectors.

What river flows in Perm? If big, then Kama. But there are quite a few small rivers in the metropolis. Not all of them resemble large streams. The Mulyanka River has a length of several tens of kilometers, however, only its lower reaches with the mouth enter the city limits.

The value of rivers

The administration of the regional center organizes periodic work related to garbage collection and the elimination of natural dumps along the banks of small rivers. The program of the event includes the removal of part of the shrubbery. Work is carried out with the aim of reducing environmental damage and ennoble the resting places of citizens. The banks of small rivers were chosen by birds who build their nests here. Various shrubs and trees grow in the lowlands. However, the water quality in many of them leaves much to be desired, especially in the lower reaches.

Having learned what river Perm is on, there is a desire to consider a more specific place. It can be designated as the area where Chusova flows into Kama. This large influx is of great importance to the city. Chusovskoy water intake is one of the sources of drinking water in the metropolis.

Perm Krai rivers

Perm rivers, the map of which resembles a mesh pattern, have a total length of more than 90 thousand km. The number of watercourses exceeds 29 thousand. Among the large rivers are only the Kama and Chusovaya, because their length exceeds 500 km. 40 watercourses are classified as medium.

The vast majority of rivers have a flat character. Distinctive features of the right tributaries of the Kama are a winding channel and a weak current. The sources of the rivers flowing into the reservoir on the left are in the mountains, and their upper sections have fast currents, rapids, rapids and waterfalls. The middle and lower sections of the left tributaries resemble typical flat watercourses.

Over 60% of Perm rivers are fed by melt water. They have prolonged freezing, spring floods, low low-water periods in summer and winter. In the northern regions there are a lot of forests and the thickness of the snow is greater, so the flood period is delayed.

Each river in Perm has a name that has its own roots. Among them there are Russian, Tatar and Komi-Permian.

Perm swamps and edges

Knowing which river Perm stands on, it is difficult to assume that swamps surround it in places. There are lowland and upland moist places. There are about 1 thousand of them in the region, and the occupied areas exceed 25 thousand km 2 .

After leaving the northern regions of the glacierโ€™s edge, bogs formed on the surface. The southern and central strip of the region received them due to various natural phenomena:

  • extremely low water bodies;
  • karst phenomena in which atmospheric precipitation accumulates;
  • anthropogenic impact: the construction of hydraulic structures (reservoirs, dams), the creation of transport infrastructure, large-scale deforestation.

The largest northern swamps have an area of โ€‹โ€‹several hundred square kilometers. In the region there are over 800 sites with peat deposits in industrial volumes. However, most of them cannot be used for mining, because they are located in specially protected areas and are of economic importance. Many of them grow cranberries, cloudberries and other valuable vitamin berries. Separate areas are used for haying.
