Ivan Sergeyevich Bortnik, whose biography will be described in the article, was born in the spring of 1939 in the capital. His father was the second person in the largest publishing house Goslitizdat. At one time, the senior Bortnik studied at the famous Bryusov Institute. After school, Bortnik decided to enter GITIS. But after some time, he submitted documents to the Shchukin school. So the future actor was on the course of V. Etush. A. Zbruev, V. Smekhov, Z. Vysokovsky, L. Maksakova, A. Belyavsky studied with him. And the teachers were Yu. Katin-Yartsev, Ts. Mansurova, M. Ulyanov and, of course, Yu. Lyubimov.

Certified actor

When Bortnik received his diploma, he was invited immediately to 6 theaters. But the graduate opted for the Gogol Theater. He admitted that he went there exclusively for company with a friend.

It was here that he got the main roles in such productions as “Sisters-robbers”, “Give a smile”, “Date by the bird cherry”, “Taras Bulba” and many others.

But over time, he did not have a relationship with one of the directors. Then Bortnik decided to come to his former teacher "Pike" Yu. Lyubimov. He accepted him and was ready to take him to his troupe. But after this conversation, Bortnik did not appear on Taganka for a year and, accordingly, continued to work at the Gogol Theater. True, the differences there have become even more acute. Bortnik even stopped greeting the director ...

Film actor debut

In these years, Bortnik also had his debut as a film actor. He played the role of the painter Vasily in the painting "Confession" by V. Voronin. According to the script, the character of Ivan began to study in a theological seminary. Over time, he became very disappointed in the ministers of worship. As a result, the main character left the church.

Honestly, after the premiere, Ivan Sergeyevich Bortnik, whose photo you see in the article, was also disappointed, but only with his game. He believed that he looked like a real sufferer, and therefore he generally lost the desire to continue acting in films. This pause in cinema lasted eight years.

Taganka

After some time, actor Bortnik Ivan Sergeevich once again came to Yuri Lyubimov. He has already seen a number of productions of Taganka. So, the actor really did not like the play “Antimir”, but from “Ten Days That Shook the World” he came to an indescribable delight. In a word, he was enrolled in the Lyubov troupe and began to work.

Colleagues, of course, accepted Bortnik into their friendly team. Moreover, the actor himself, finding a job, went to "his". The fact is that many of his classmates have already worked there.

Bortnik began on Taganka with the main role of Pasha Vlasov. We are talking about the sensational performance “Mother” at that time. In "Pugachev" he immediately received two roles as associates of the rebel chieftain. He also took part in such productions as “Wooden Horses”, “What to Do?”, “Fallen and Alive”, “Alive”, “Boris Godunov”, “Revizsky Tale” and many others.

And once in the “Feast during the Plague”, the actor brilliantly played the role of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Moreover, he shared the scene with Leonid Filatov. Their duet became simply unique, and all the Moscow newspapers noted the game of Bortnik.

In 1977, the troupe went on tour in France. There the theater gave 65 performances in 45 days. In Paris, at the opening of the tour, the audience applauded standing up, and the ovation lasted almost thirty minutes.

Despite this, Lyubimov admitted that working with the actor was very difficult for him. The reason was the explosive nature of Bortnik. The skilled director called him “an evil boy”, repeating that “he is this my cross” ...

Actually, many Taganka actors had such heavy characters. And one of them was Vladimir Vysotsky.

Friendship with Vysotsky

When the actor began working at the Taganka Theater, and this was in 1967, he immediately met with Vladimir Vysotsky. He once admitted that he has only five closest friends, among whom was Bortnik. In his poems, Vysotsky called him Silent glanders.

The actor recalled that before Taganka he did not know at all who he was and what he was. Moreover, he never listened to his songs due to the lack of his own tape recorder. Bortnik Ivan Sergeevich about Vysotsky said that, most likely, they agreed on a love of poetry and stories about the post-war childhood. The story of Hamlet

At these times, Bortnik was also involved in the legendary production of "Hamlet" by Yu. Lyubimov. First, he was entrusted with the role of the gravedigger, then - Laertes, and later - the son of the Danish king himself. True, he was forced to abandon the role of Hamlet.

The fact is that once the director invited him to play a major role. Lyubimov was extremely dissatisfied with Vladimir Vysotsky. He admitted that he could not count on him and did not believe him. He said that an actor can go anywhere. Therefore, the director asked Bortnik to start learning the text, adding that Ivan’s temperament is similar to Vysotsky. And therefore, he, as a director, will not have to rebuild the whole performance.

After that, Bortnik immediately came to his friend. He gave the green light to him to start playing instead.

Nevertheless, after reflection, Ivan Bortnik refused the role. One of the reasons for the refusal was the fact that Hamlet plays the guitar in the production, and Ivan was not trained to play this instrument.

Bortnik Ivan Sergeevich: personal life

Bortnik's first love was Inna Gulaya, who also served Melpomene. Beloved did not become his wife. It was a crazy youthful affair.

As a result, Gulaya married the genius writer Gennady Shpalikov.

After his death, she also committed suicide, as well as her husband.

And in the late 60s, he met a new love. The actor’s wife graduated from one of the theater schools, and in these walls she heads the department, teaching sound engineering. She became the person who could endure the unbearable nature of her husband. She knew how to forgive his hard drinking and resentment.

Long ago, Vladimir Vysotsky told him that it was high time for Bortnik’s wife to erect a monument for her living with him. They are together today.

In 1969, the son of Fedor was born to the Bortnikov family. He became an engineer and worked as a "lighting designer."

"Blotter"

Meanwhile, after an eight-year break, Bortnik Ivan Sergeevich began to act again. His filmography was replenished with the film “Ahead of the Day”, then with the fabulous film “Ivan da Marya”, then he starred in the “Foreman”.

During this period, directors invited him quite often, but first of all he played episodic roles.

The death of the bard

When Vladimir Vysotsky died in the 80s, Bortnik was preparing for the next performance. Then he was informed that one of his best friends was gone. He was shocked and, according to his recollections, did not remember how he had finished the performance in general.

After the funeral for a long time, he could not communicate with anyone. He also refused to interview journalists. Vysotsky’s theme was too painful for him. Only relatively recently, Bortnik decided to publish letters from Vysotsky that were addressed to him.

The death of a friend coincided with the statement of Ivan for a role in Mikhalkov’s film “Relatives”. He then refused, since he was completely crushed by grief. He even wrote a letter to Nikita Mikhalkov. However, the wife insisted that Ivan start acting. As a result, the role of Bortnik became one of the best.
