How to become Russian? The actors of the new sitcom from the STS television channel, the premiere of which took place in 2015, know the answer to this question. Only 20 episodes were enough for the American Alex Wilson to completely Russify and understand the difficult Russian humor. Who played the main roles in the comedy series "How I Became Russian" and will it be continued?
How to become Russian, or a Brief plot of a new series
The protagonist of the series is an American named Alex. He works as a journalist for the acclaimed American Post. Shortly before the events described in the film, Alex wrote a revealing article on American politics. To protect himself, he was temporarily forced to leave the States.
Alex Wilson's boss sends a young man on a business trip to Russia. Wilson obeyed the order, but from the first day he was in a new country, he was waiting for a dirty trick from the locals. The thing is that he turned out to be a hostage to generally accepted stereotypes. With the development of the storyline, Wilson gets rid of established standards and tells his compatriots not only about how to become Russian, but also about the strengths and weaknesses of this people.
Critics praised the new project of the STS channel, filled with humor and funny plot twists. In addition, viewers and reviewers liked the angle of view from which all the events taking place were considered: the creators of the project did not try to ridicule the American - rather, they simulated situations in which Russian viewers could laugh at themselves.
Whether the continuation of the film will be filmed, the producers of the series have not yet reported.
"How I Became Russian": actors. Mateusz Damenzky as Alex Wilson
The Pole Mateusz Damenzky was invited to the role of an American journalist. The series "How I Became Russian" became the second Russian project in which the Polish actor took part.
Mateusz was born in May 1881 in Warsaw. His family has been associated with theatrical art for many generations. When Damnetsky graduated from high school, he decided to continue the acting dynasty and entered the Warsaw Theater Academy. Then the young actor served in many theaters in the capital.
Since 1993, Mateusz has starred in Polish films and TV shows. In 1997, Damnetsky even managed to appear in the American vampire series Clan. But this project did not last long. And in 2000, the actor tried himself in Russian cinema, playing in the historical film of Alexander Proshkin “Russian Revolt”.
It was not difficult for Mateusz to get used to the image of a biased American, since in Poland itself the attitude to Russian culture was about the same. Perhaps this justifies the choice of sitcom producers in favor of the Polish artist.
Svetlana Ivanova as Ani
The main character did not have to guess for a long time about how to become a Russian. Thanks to his work in the office of a Russian newspaper, he learned to deal with Russian bosses, "tyrants." And Alex knew Russian life thanks to his tender feelings for the Russian girl Ana.
The role of beloved Alex and part-time ambulance doctor went to Svetlana Ivanova. Miniature Sveta began her career in Russian television series, but already in 2005 her famous films such as “9 Companies”, “Franz + Polina” and many other feature films appeared in her filmography.
A special breakthrough for the girl was the main role in the Russian thriller Anton Megerdichev "The Dark World". The picture was commercially successful. However, the girl was not invited to the second part, as the director changed for the project. But Ivanova got the main role in another project - the fantastic action movie “August. Eighth. " Recently, Svetlana is increasingly taking part in television projects.
Sergey Chirkov as Roman
The series "How I Became Russian" was also included in the filmography of the young Russian actor Sergei Chirkov. In the project, he got the role of Alex's Russian friend - Roman Bystrov.
Chirkov is a graduate of VGIK and GITIS. Sergey made his film debut in 2002. For the first time, he got the main role in the 2009 adventure in the action movie "On the Game". Together with Chirkov, Pavel Priluchny (“The Dark World-2”), Marina Petrenko (“20 years without love”), Alexey Bardukov (“Saboteur”) and Agnia Ditkovskite (“Heat”) starred in this project. Subsequently, Chirkov starred in the tapes “At the Game-2” and “Gamers”, which are a continuation of the project “At the Game”.
The main roles were also given to the actor in the films “Island of Unnecessary People”, “Happy Ticket”, “Angel or Demon” and “New Year's Plague”. In 2016, four new films with the participation of Sergei Chirkov will be released immediately.
