The anime "Dramatic Murder" is a mixture of action, thriller and a detective with a slight touch of psychological quest. NAZ Studio did not make a revolution by releasing this creation to the public, but was able to defuse the season with quite a good series, which will appeal to adolescents. The key audience that the creators are guided by is schoolchildren 13-15 years old.
The characters of "Dramatic Murder" turned out to be very charismatic, memorable. Most of them have their own history, unique character and humanity. The protagonist’s environment cannot be called static. Together with excellent drawing and thoughtful dialogues, this makes the anime "Dramatic Murder" memorable, although somewhat superficial.
Some facts about the series
The anime came out two years after the presentation of the eponymous visual novel in the erotic genre. The plot, as well as the characters of "Dramatic Murder" appealed to the audience.
The first season consists of 12 episodes of 24 minutes each. The broadcast ended in 2014. Despite the fact that the series was recognized as successful, the brand was criticized due to some discrepancy between the TV adaptation and the narrative of the visual novel. Later it turned out that this was done to reduce the age level of the audience and attract new viewers to the setting.
B's-Log Comic is still publishing the eponymous manga with the characters in Dramatic Murder. Risovok remained at a fairly high level. Those who liked the series can turn their attention to paper or electronic versions of the sequel.
The project was recognized as successful, which, first of all, is associated with the originality of the idea. Earlier it was mentioned that the anime "Dramatic Murder" has some features of psychological drama, this allows viewers to independently try to find answers to questions about the plot and "dig deeper" in search of truth.

The plot of "Dramatic Murder" is a mixture of cyberpunk and a detective. In the center of the story is the fictional Midorijima island, the climate on which allows you to turn the landscape into a full-fledged resort area. Previously, ordinary residents settled here, but Toe Corporation bought and sold the land, turning the lion's share of the island into a "Platinum Prison", a recreation area for status tourists and "golden youth". Here are the majority of boutiques, supermarkets and expensive entertainment centers for customers with money. Those who cannot afford to live like a king are forced to move to the "area of former residents", in fact, something similar to the ghetto.
The main characters of "Dramatic Murder" are a small group in the form of a private entrepreneur, an ordinary employee and several loafers. One way or another, most events revolve around the protagonist. Aoba Seragaki looks like an ordinary young guy who is trying to work and lead a quiet life. In fact, it is of great value to the corporation, because it has a secret power. It is around this character that the story begins to revolve.
What Midorijima looks like
The island is divided into several areas, each of which to one degree or another displays the inhabitants living in it:
- The North is a forbidden zone from which few returned. No one knows for sure why the territory has ceased to be public. Later it turns out that it was here that secret research was conducted.
- The East is an average income region, which is populated mainly by clerks and their families. It has its own security system, so the crime rate here is relatively low.
- West. Like the East, it is a residential area, but only slightly poorer.
- The South is wholly owned by youth and is a cheap replica of Platinum Prison. There are many different entertainments, there is where to get all kinds of trinkets or just have a bite with friends.
The city is quite densely populated, and “Platinum Prison” and at all, apparently, is one of the most popular resorts in the game world.
Rhythm and its fans
The characters of "Dramatic Murder" are involved to one degree or another in this virtual game.
The setting is a kind of social education, where each person can create an avatar for himself, after which he will receive several AIs as assistants. Thus, in “Rhythm” you can conduct business, work, have fun, without fearing for the safety of their physical shell. However, the plot of the anime begins to twist abruptly when it turns out that in a virtual space a person can be injured, killed or left forever as a vegetable. The main character is weakly interested in the game, but supports the company, although his key desire is to tear himself and his grandmother out of the slums.
Game "Ribstiz"
This creation also has a significant impact on anime characters. It is a battle arena where people fight for money. Often, residents of poor areas fight here, a richer and more status audience gathers to watch such bloody entertainment. It is one of the few chances for a resident of the "region of former residents" to regain full-fledged citizenship status and to settle in more favorable conditions.
Aoba Seragaki
This is a protagonist and a key character in the story. Calm, quiet and peaceful guy who most of all wants to get his grandmother out of poverty. Hardworking, very grateful to Touet, who sheltered him. She, however, is not at all against using the guy for her own purposes.
The protagonist works at the Haybon store, where used goods are sold. He is a slender and tall guy with azure hair and piercing amber eyes. As a friend, he is very reliable and loyal, ambiguously treats his fellow traveler Kli.
In the course of the story, it turns out that Aoba is one of two brothers created in the laboratory for an unknown purpose. Presumably, the guys should have been turned into a kind of soldier or weapon. So, for example, the protagonist owns the power of voice, which allows him to control others if they hear him. Despite this, Aoba tries not to use her talent. The guy is very strictly raised by his grandmother, who was involved in the mentioned project.
Kli
This is an extremely ambiguous and satirical character. His first appearance is a direct fall from the sky. He prefers to call Aoba "master", behaves unrestrainedly and sometimes unceremoniously. Very surprised, and sometimes insulted, if Aoba makes comments to him. He constantly wears a mask, says that in this way he wants to keep incognito. He is a slender smiling guy with snowy white hair and mocking eyes. Sometimes he watches how his master sleeps. Klia is afraid that Aoba will one day not wake up like his grandfather. It has a significant role in the narrative and sometimes allows you to somewhat defuse the protagonist’s too serious severity with his behavior. Kli in "Dramatic Murder" does not part with a gas mask.
This
This is Aoba’s brother, created by Toe’s facilities. Unlike Aoba, he controls consciousness through his gaze. It is directly related to the creation of "Rhythm", the prototype of the mass hypnosis system. It looks different than Aoba. He is thin, but his hair is dark, like his eyes. If the protagonist is friendly and easy to communicate, then this one almost always tries to distance himself from the interlocutor and avoids looking into anyone’s eyes unnecessarily. His childhood was spent on the basis of the corporation, which is why Sei is somewhat infantile and loves toys. Its appearance is very eccentric, but considered fashionable within the game. He loves his brother very much, and therefore seeks to reunite with him.
Ren
This is an assistant protagonist and his hand robot. In "Rhythm" it can take on a human form and rarely remains a beast. More than reasonable and very attached to the hero. It usually looks like a Japanese Spitz of dark color with cute and very smart eyes. Often helps Aobe in his endeavors. In fact, he is a particle of the personality of the protagonist himself, who first materialized in the form of an imaginary friend of Aoba, and later, when he grew up, he found a way to the hero, placing himself in the consciousness of the robot. Once the hero almost erased his friend, but these events were erased from Aoba's memory. Now, Ren in the "Dramatic Murder" is in Say's body, although he is poorly aware of himself.
Kojaku
This is the protagonist's best friend and a welcome guest in their house with their grandmother. Often he rushes to have a bite because he likes to eat tasty food, and Aoba's teacher is a recognized chef. Kojiaku, in Dramatic Killing, acts as a key factor in triggering an adventure on Aoba's head. He works as a hairdresser and is a huge success for women. In “Rhythm”, in turn, he is known as a very talented artist who even put together his band called “Benisigure”.
Noise
This is a recognized arena fighter because his body does not feel pain. For a long time I could not understand what this feeling was like, and therefore I subjected myself to various physical injuries. Periodically intersects with other characters of "Dramatic Murder", but behaves defiantly. Sassy, although he has considerable intelligence and talent for computer hacking. Likes piercings. It is noteworthy that sensitivity was preserved exclusively in the language of Noise, and he made a habit of “trying” everything. After Aoba invaded Noise's mind, his sensitivity to pain returned, which is why the hero rethought his life.
The characters of “Dramatic Murder” represent the author’s idea of the youth from the future: she has her own values and looks differently at both life and her place in society. Watching this is interesting, although in some cases the narrative seems a little leisurely. However, it is possible that this is a flaw in the anime, not manga.
