Sickness is a bad character trait

In a team where every participant tries to be as polite and delicate as possible, it is always a pleasure to be. Unfortunately for many, because of a bad mood, bad temper, or a desire to quarrel others, quarrelsomeness is the norm in modern life. A striking personality trait, it often becomes the cause of serious conflicts both at work and at home, leads to serious moral and even material losses.

How did the word appear?

The term is derived from the epithet β€œsquabbling”. Philologists could not establish the exact origin, but as the primary source point to the onomatopoeic Proto-Slavic * klikati. Specialists trace the connection with a shred (of hair), something tightly bound. In the languages ​​of the Slavic group, cognate such concepts as:

  • confuse;
  • frizz;
  • tow.

We are invariably talking about things complex in structure and at the same time easily clinging to objects around.

But if a hair or wool ball is easy to remove from clothes, a squabble person is a problem of a higher order. His bad temper manifests itself always and everywhere. The motivation is the struggle for personal interests, constant intrigues against colleagues or unloved relatives. And also a simple love of controversial situations: many people just enjoy swearing, the opportunity to speak out and relieve nervous tension.

The retired ordinary neighbor, a squabbler, sees no other way to entertain herself than to swear at the tenants, scold the youth and argue with the plumber. Colleagues show character in order to break into a warm place, increase social status and salary. Relatives will do anything in order to take possession of the inheritance and / or disposition of a rich uncle: even if for this it is necessary to expose the cousin in a disadvantageous way by gossip and slander.

Despite the attempts of people of the 21st century to be independent, to put themselves above others, ethical standards change little. Now, quarrelsomeness is a negative factor. And if someone tries to assert their position by creating conflicts, they will quickly be put in place. Since such behavior is detrimental to the corporate spirit, introduces discord and destructively affects interpersonal relationships.

The concept is not considered offensive, although endowed with a negative connotation. The speaker does not so much call for calm down, but indicates the aggressiveness of the interlocutor, his inability to conduct an equal dialogue and listen to the opponent. For official negotiations, the term is not suitable, as it reduces the discussion to an informal level.
