The vice and president of the two academies, the chief endocrinologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Ivan Ivanovich teaches at Sechenov Moscow State Medical University. He is a honored worker of science and a holder of several orders for services to the Fatherland. Dedov is the author of many scientific and methodological publications. He has an adult son who has followed in the scientific footsteps of his father.
Childhood
Dedov Ivan Ivanovich, whose photo is in this article, was born on 02/12/1941 in the Voronezh region, in the village of Dmitryashevka. His mother is Anna Yakovlevna, his father is Ivan Fedoseevich. The childhood of the academician until 1952 passed in the Voronezh region, and after - in Lipetsk.
Education
First, Ivan Ivanovich went to a local rural high school. He graduated with a gold medal in 1958. He entered the Voronezh Medical Institute. He graduated in 1964, then from 1964 to 1972. studied at graduate school. In 1976 he defended his doctorate.
Career
Dedov Ivan Ivanovich, whose biography is described in this article, began his career as a junior researcher in the laboratory of the Medical Institute of Radiology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR in Obninsk. The future academician was engaged in neuro- and endocrinology. In 1973, Ivan Ivanovich was transferred to the post of senior scientist at the experimental laboratory. He worked at the Institute of Clinical Oncology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR in Moscow until 1982.
Then he became a professor at the faculty of the first medical faculty at the 1st Sechenov Moscow Medical Institute. He worked there until 1988. After he was transferred to the post of head of the department of endocrinology at the same institute. Since 1990, it became known as the Moscow Academy. Sechenov.
Since 1989, Ivan Ivanovich Dedov, reviews of which speak of him as a doctor from God, is the director of the State Endocrinological Scientific Center of the RAMS. This is the only institution of its kind in the Russian Federation, which brings together the best specialists. In the scientific center are held:
- research work;
- medical;
- clinical diagnostic;
- organizational and methodological;
- pedagogical complexes in the field of endocrinology.
And also it is a base for the rehabilitation of patients according to state programs.
Academic Achievements
Dedov Ivan Ivanovich (reviews of his talents can be heard not only in Russia but also abroad) is an outstanding scientist with a worldwide reputation. He made a great contribution to the development of many areas in endocrinology. Ivan Ivanovich became a leading clinician and an experienced educator of healthcare in the Russian Federation.
Grandfather is engaged in the development of fundamental and applied works, which are known not only in Russia but also abroad. Ivan Ivanovich is a first-class specialist in all key areas of endocrinology:
- immunology of diabetes;
- genetics;
- in the development of new modern technologies for the diagnosis of diseases;
- prevention and treatment of late complications of diabetes (gangrene of the legs, nephropathy, etc.).
Dedov Ivan Ivanovich - Russian "star" in the field of endocrinology. He took an active part in the development of early diagnostic methods and agents for the comprehensive treatment of diseases of the hypothalamic-pituitary systems, including pituitary tumors. Ivan Ivanovich perfectly studied the principles of organization and operation of the neuroendocrine system in the human body, how the system functions and regulates sexual functions and growth in women and men. Including he conducted research on the reproductive system, radiation and other aspects of endocrinology. The range of interests of Ivan Ivanovich includes the study of the pathogenesis of the diagnosis and therapy of autoimmune, iodine deficiency and tumor diseases of the thyroid gland.
The academician is one of the first to study the neuroendocrine system in phylogenesis and ontogenesis in humans and animals. Ivan Ivanovich Dedov found out the regularity of systemogenesis, heterochronism of individual links and their consolidation into a functional higher system. Hypothalamic nuclei have been identified that regulate the secretion of certain pituitary hormones and endocrine peripheral glands.
Special work cycle
There is a separate series of works by Ivan Ivanovich Dedov, devoted to the study of the radiosensitivity of humans and animals, depending on the state and operation of the neuroendocrine system and the age of subjects irradiated with internal and external radiation.
In the process of research, the academician found that the radioactivity and survival of experimental subjects at various levels of the body (cellular, tissue, etc.) and subcellular structures primarily depend on the functioning of the neuroendocrine system. And the results of the works of I. Dedov became the basis of radiotherapy for patients who suffer from disorders in the functioning of the thyroid gland and hypothalamic-pituitary system.
Scientific achievements
Academician Ivan Ivanovich Dedov and his many students were able to obtain very important results for science and clinical work. Many of the discoveries made have become the basis of treatment at the global level.
For example, in the field of diabetes mellitus, genotyping of different ethnic groups of patients with this disease was carried out for the first time. The results were unique and included in the International List of Genetic Research. Protective and predisposing genes have been identified that determine the risk of developing diabetes mellitus and vascular complications.
Methods for predicting the disease in families whose members are already sick were developed by Ivan Ivanovich Dedov. The Endocrinology Center is now able to identify high-risk groups. The latest methods for diagnosing diabetes mellitus and the pathogenetic therapy of vascular complications (cardiac ischemic disease, retinopathy, etc.) have been developed and are being actively applied in practice.
The State Register of people with diabetes has been created in the Russian Federation. And the organization is functioning successfully. With the direct participation of Ivan Ivanovich, a state target program was created and is being implemented. Within its framework, the Russian Diabetes Service was created, which greatly changed the situation in Russia in the field of diabetes.
For the first time in the country, a system of control studies of the disease, its complications and their actual prevalence was introduced. This allows you to make a real assessment of medical care (and improve it) for people with diabetes in specific cities and towns.
Ivan Ivanovich Dedov and his students made a great contribution to the creation and implementation of modern methods of combined treatment of pituitary tumors and Itsenko-Cushing's disease. Radiation therapy with proton beams began, in conjunction with drug and neurosurgical therapy. Plus postoperative hormonal-metabolic and medical rehabilitation of patients.
It was Dedov and his students who owned the laurels of international recognition of the main cause of infertility. Ways were found for its treatment and prevention. And in the field of thyroid pathology, a new marker for the diagnosis of cancer has been established.
Dedov Ivan Ivanovich - “endocrinological god”, unique a specialist who has no equal. He coordinates the National Program for the Control of Iodine Deficiency Diseases. Work is regularly carried out with the population, analyzing and identifying anthropogenic and goitrogenic factors that affect human health. And preventive measures are being taken to prevent thyroid diseases.
Grandfather launched an extensive study of the thyroid gland. And the results became the basis for the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on the prevention of diseases caused by iodine deficiency.
Pediatric Endocrinology
The initiator of the opening in 2002 of the first Institute of Pediatric Endocrinology was Dedov Ivan Ivanovich. The Endocrinology Center has a special program containing molecular genetic and immunological studies in the field of endocrinology in childhood.
Various gene and chromosomal mutations have been identified that determine the development and clinical forms of disorders in the reproductive system. Under the leadership of Ivan Ivanovich, studies were conducted on the causes of stunting.
The Gosregister of disabled children with dwarfism is functioning. There is a growth center. Medical and social rehabilitation of children. For the first time around the world, under the guidance of Ivan Ivanovich Dedov, a method of proton therapy was used in children with brain tumors. And a whole system of rehabilitation of children with various pathologies of the endocrine system has been created.
Thanks to new technologies, methods and systems have appeared that allow diagnosis and therapy in children who have hermaphroditism, premature sexual development and metabolic disorders.
Contribution to Science and Health
It was Ivan Ivanovich Dedov who initiated the creation of the reproductive health department. It sets the standards for the development of Russians from the first minutes of birth. Periods of risk of violations in the endocrine system are identified. And there was the possibility of rehabilitation, even for the elderly.
Under the leadership of Dedov, standards and best algorithms for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the endocrine system were created, which were introduced into Russian clinical practice.
The academician became a major organizer in healthcare and medical science. He pays much attention to the creation of specialized services and the training of highly qualified specialists in the Russian Federation. Dedov Ivan Ivanovich is constantly introducing new technologies in the field of endocrine diseases.
Teaching activities
Under the leadership of the Russian academician there are eight departments and nine training courses in different regions of Russia. Ivan Ivanovich Dedov, 24 years old, heads the Department of Endocrinology at MMA named after Sechenov. Ivan Ivanovich became the initiator of an additional training department - pediatric endocrinology and diabetology FPPO. Thanks to Dedov, 165 residents, 107 graduate students and over 800 doctors have already been trained.
Under the personal guidance and consultations “out of the hands” of the academician, 23 doctors, 47 candidates of medical sciences left. Grandfather wrote and published over 500 scientific papers. Moreover, more than half abroad. Prepared 37 textbooks, monographs, atlases and practical manuals. For doctors - more than 300 manuals and methodological publications.
