Back in school, anatomy classes study the structure of man. Therefore, even a middle school student knows that the liver is located in the right hypochondrium - a unique organ on which the general condition of the body depends.
Firstly, all foods and water are broken down in the digestive system, into which the liver supplies bile.
Secondly, from the nutrients remaining in the body, it is in the liver that everything that we have is built.
Thirdly, it is a forge of iron, glycogen, folic acid and many other elements necessary for the body.
Fourth, this body produces proteins, including those proteins that affect blood coagulation.
Fifth, the liver destroys harmful substances in the blood, thereby preventing damage to other organs.
How does the liver hurt? The answer is no way, because the structure of the liver is such that it does not have pain receptors. But with impaired activity, it increases in size and puts pressure on the capsule in which it is located. And the walls of the capsule have pain receptors and signal a disease.
Statistics show that the main causes of liver damage are alcohol and blood-borne infections that cause hepatitis, as well as drugs, poor-quality food and water.
If the liver hurts, the symptoms in the initial stage may be similar to the flu or a cold, and also appear:
- fatigue from any type of work,
- bitterness in the mouth,
heartburn
- pain in the right side,
- yellowness of the skin and eyeball.
And yet, how does the liver hurt? Symptoms depend primarily on what caused the disease. Doctors conditionally divide hepatic diseases into diffuse and focal. Viral and alcoholic cirrhosis is very common. If measures are not taken on time, they can lead to disability. Timely treatment started can save a person from these diseases, because the liver has a unique function - self-regeneration. If you change the diet and diet, take medications prescribed by your doctor, liver cells begin to recover.
How does the liver hurt and infection?
An acute hepatitis disease develops depending on which virus (A, B, C, D, E, and F) it causes.
Hepatitis A spreads through contaminated foods and water. The disease is not severe and does not become a chronic form.
Hepatitis B is transmitted through the bloodstream or during sexual intercourse; without treatment, it can become chronic.
Hepatitis C is also transmitted through the bloodstream and through sexual contact, most often ending in a chronic form.
Virus D does not cause disease on its own, it can join virus B.
The E virus enters the body through food, and the F virus through the blood. Their influence has not yet been studied.
Acute hepatitis can result from excessive alcohol consumption and certain medications.
Acute viral hepatitis is manifested primarily by the icteric form of the onset of the disease, nausea and vomiting, fever. But an insidious disease can occur without any symptoms.
How does the liver hurt and what are the tumors in it?
Tumors are divided into benign and malignant. With a benign tumor, there are no signs. Most often, these are hemangiomas that form on the blood vessels of the liver.
A cyst in the liver is a cavity filled with fluid that may be parasitic in origin. It can signal its occurrence by pain in the right hypochondrium, jaundice, and itchy skin.
A malignant tumor is liver cancer. Most often, the initial stage is asymptomatic, later symptoms of liver diseases appear .
Tumors are usually treated surgically.
How to protect the liver from the disease?
The health of the liver, as well as of the whole organism, depends on the lifestyle and compliance with the rules of personal hygiene. For prevention, you do not need to abuse alcohol, fatty and spicy foods, you should not take medicine without a doctorβs prescription. It is worth eating more vegetables and fruits, observe a diet and do physical exercises.
